I feel like objectively the answer to "NES game that held up the best" is Super Mario Bros 3, and I'm not the sort of person to say there's 'objectively' an answer to anything like this because normally there isn't but it's just obviously SMB3

yeah there's a reason why Mario 3 would crush any other NES game in a popularity poll, not just here, but pretty much anywhere on the internet

I wonder if Duck Hunt holds up.

I don't feel like there's much for Duck Hunt to "hold up" to. It's just a point and shoot game with no substantial depth to it.

I'm sure I would still hate the dog if I were to play it today.

To truly know, youd have to play it on a CRT TV. The reworked version they rigged together for Virtual Console just isnt the same

Yeah between that, Quick Man stage, and Heat Man stage I would argue Mega Man 3 is actually the better entry to float for this question.
