Since the outset of the global monkeypox outbreak in May, public health and infectious disease experts have told the public that the virus is largely transmitting through skin-to-skin contact, in particular during sex between men.

In recent weeks, a growing body of scientific evidence including a trio of studies published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as reports fromnational, regional and global health authorities has suggested that experts may have framed monkeypoxs typical transmission route precisely backward.

Yeah, none of the 3 quoted studies rule out, or even make skin contact as transmission less likely. In fact, you can't really determine this with the data presented, which is pretty much just a demographic characterization of the infected and presentation characteristics.

because there isnt nearly enough information to really conclude that yet, HIV/AIDS seemed like it affected mostly the gay community so it wasnt taken very seriously, only for that to turn out to be incorrect and it became a huge epidemic largely because of that false assumption

Even if it were a disease that ONLY targeted gay people, we should STILL be mobilizing a speedy healthcare response for a disease that we KNOW (it's been around for decades), AND that we already have the effective vaccines and treatment for.

The fact that we aren't, belies the motives behind the lack of speed.
