The science just claims that transmission is currently predominantly in the LGBT community, and that it can likely spread through sex, based on distribution of lesions. I don't think anyone would call that homophobic.

However, reporting that it cannot occur through skin contact, and that this is only an LGBT disease are both unsupported and driven by homophobic narratives.

(It's also important to note that it could still also be spreading primarily though skin contact, but just so happens most skin contact during sexy time tends to be distributed around certain areas)

I read that anal sex is what's spreading it and not necessarily "gay sex".

Nowhere in the article does it claim that it's not transmitted via skin-to-skin contact. Only that that isn't the primary driver of transmission, which is pretty important. Nor does it claim only gay men get it.

Well yes

Now, however, an expanding cadre of experts has come to believe that sex between men itself both anal as well as oral intercourse is likely the main driver of global monkeypox transmission. The skin contact that comes with sex, these experts say, is probably much less of a risk factor.

So it's not homophobic by your standard. Why even bring homophobia up in relation to the article except for in an attempt to inflame outrage and/or morally posture

You brought it up. You said people were calling the science homophobic. I said they weren't. Just any interpretation of the science that downplays the possibility of skin transmission and pushes the view as an std.

No actually hyperpowder did and then hockeybub, that's what I was originally referring to. Anyway this is just an argument about who said what and whether or not they meant it in a certain way and whether or not that way is bad, which is just not interesting. Bottom line is that for now this disease is an issue in the gay community and not much elsewhere, and I think it's silly to consider that homophobic to say. Peace
