I hope XCX gets a switch port since it'd be great having the entire franchise on 1 platform.

I do own it on the Wii-U but haven't gotten around to it yet. There's also the issue of requiring the gamepad for some segments which I was never a fan of.

Shame its story and characters (well, almost all of those) were absolute garbage. Despite the fact that I don't really replay games I still sometimes think about going back to that one before remembering how atrocious the writing was.

I'd play Star Fox Zero in a heartbeat if there were traditional controls. Unless I missed something my understanding is that it's still janky when mapped to a traditional gamepad.

Xenoblade X look good, but its open world options and mechanics sucks ass. One of the poorest selections of shit to do with the absolute bare minimum of a checklist for variety in its world.

There's almost nothing to see outside of the main hub besides monsters and pretty vistas. No settlements of note, no notable NPCs who you can find in different locations outside of the city besides no-name NPCs standing in a camp doing fuck-all and offering nothing interesting to engage with.

Here in Japan, it's sometimes called one of the worst Xeno games for a reason.
Sucks ass as a story-driven game.
Sucks ass as an open world game.

The finest example of a game that attempts open world and really has no business doing it.
Which is funnier because, all things considered, FFXV realistically did it better. Yeah, it's still barren, but at least it tries to make use of that open world element with things to actually see and do occasionally.

XCX doesn't even do that.

Elden ring was a flavour of the month hype train. I noticed most my steam friends who has played dark souls has not played elden ring yet but lots of people whos never played any soulsbourne jumped at it and preordered it.

It probably passed most by because its open world's pretty poor all things considered >_>

Like... I had fun with it, but the world doesn't really feel alive. It's the epitome of getting by on its art direction alone. I'm pretty sure if it didn't have that, it would have gotten torn apart like the criticism it received in Japan.

Seriously, what can you do with X's open world that other games of the same type don't do, if not the latter going the extra mile with it or outright using its open world to a fuller potential by putting in lots of stuff to occupy the world?
