Most of the replies in this topic are disgusting. This man was a sexual deviant and no doubt did terrible things, but that doesn't make it OK to cheer on suicide, or to lament this person won't himself be sexually abused now that he is dead. Just because a person did wrong--even perhaps the worst wrong--doesn't somehow make their rape or suicide that is considered necessary because of the way we treat prisoners good.

In a humane, advanced society, prison should be about rehabilitation and restitution, not torture, violence, or slavery. Meanness in the justice system doesn't deter crime or decrease recidivism. And there are always mistakes: people have been convicted and served out long sentences for everything from theft to murder to child abuse and later be found to not have been guilty. You can't take back what happened to those folks.

In a humane society, people like this wouldn't do such terrible things to children. And releasing sex predators has only proven that they'll continue to harm others, so take your high and mighty ideals and shove it.

You know what you call a person who has a list of people that it's ok to rape? Somebody who would commit rape if given the greenlight.

Theres just people here that say raping someone isnt a form of justice, even if said person is a convicted criminal for rape/pedophilia.

Chiming in to say that rape is not an acceptable form of punishment. Kill a child rapist, by all means, but rape is not a punishment.

Always wondered why this wasn't more commonly attempted.

Probably bc most people facing serious charges like this aren't out on bond, and aren't able to bring their own cocktails to court.

The pedo deserved death for sure but lets not call the US legal/prison system justice please.

I prefer that he made this choice instead of the system needing to figure out what go do with him. Probably the nicest thing he could've done for the world.

But also im not cool with prison rape being a defacto sentence. Don't use other people that are supposed to be working on rehabilitation/serving their time to do your dirty work. If you don't believe the laws properly punish those that break them, then work to have that aspect changed.

Incarceration is usually based on how much of a danger to the community they are, as you can't hold people(who are innocent until proven guilty) in jail, which is why there's bail and being released on recognizance and public safety assessments. Also theres a pandemic and the jails are full. If the guy has no prior criminal history and his charge was just abusing one child and he had gainful employment, whether you like it or not, 99% of the time he would be released and the other 1% of the time he would be detained, to which his lawyer would file an appeal and he would be released. Detention motions usually only get granted for people with several priors, or particularly heinous circumstances of a crime that pose a danger to the community.

also the "rape is okay as long as it happens to people I don't like" vibe in this topic should be rather alarming. That's the kind of justification some people use that commit heinous crimes and is a massive red flag
