Millions of years ago there used to be much bigger types of animals, reptiles, ect, but I don't think I ever heard of some crazy spider that used to be alive. Maybe it's because they don't leave behind evidence when they die?

There's currently huge bats in South America.

Paleontologists discovered a fossil they thought had been a spider that was the size of a chihuahua. Years later, it was correctly reclassified as sea scorpion with its tail tucked underneath itself. But by that time, a popular Discovery documentary on the Paleozoic era had CGI of these supposed giant spiders as part of their program.
