For the last several months (since April), i've actually been leaving my house at least once a week, and for two of those months, twice a week. You have to administer Spravato in a clinical setting, so i've kinda had to, x.x

That being said, I left the house almost every day during the power and internet outage. I can't get a cell signal at my house, so I had to drive a bit away from it to actually get one for internet.

My place itself was fine, but the immediate area I live in was absolutely devastated. The road leading to my house being obliterated and the electrical/internet outages were the extent of damage the flooding personally had on me, but the rest of the area? Tons of people experienced a lot of damage, and there's people in my "neighborhood" who lost their homes, vehicles, etc. or their houses were damaged a lot. The school I went to when I was little had water get up in it several feet, and the library was extremely damaged.

My first concern is always tending to my gacha games, >.< . I play a few different ones and am very serious about them (to the point of addiction, perhaps), so not being able to get everything done was hard.

Personally? Now that we have our electricity and internet again, I'm relatively okay; our own house/property didn't get damaged. The people around five to ten minutes away, though... there was quite a lot of devastation. It's a small area, but even the governor decided it was bad enough that it was worth a visit here.

It seems to be over for now, but I don't know if the area will ever recover. The area was already taking a turn for the worse without the extra money from coal mining, and there just isn't much to rebuild with. Most people here are poor, and Fema apparently isn't offering a lot of money.

My favorite overall musician is John Dyer Baizley, aka the main guy behind my favorite band, Baroness. He does the vocals, half of the guitar work, a lot of the actual songwriting, and he even does the paintings for the album covers (which are quite good). He's a very talented man, imo.

My favorite vocalist is either Christian Alvestam or Bjorn Strid, though. They do great traditional vocals and they do great growls, too, and for Christian's case, it says a lot that Scar Symmetry had to replace him with TWO vocalists to do what he did alone. Dylan Desmond (of Bell Witch) for bass, and guitar... that's a bit of a tough one. If you asked me a decade ago, I could have said John Petrucci (the guitarist for Dream Theater) without any hesitation, but these days, i'm not really sure. There's a lot of great guitarists out there, and while most are not as talented as he is in a technical sense, his creativity has mostly ran dry these days... so I dunno. Maybe the guy behind Serpent Column, Mystskaos? As for drummers, I can't really say. I enjoy good drumming, but i've never really latched onto any particular ones, either.

I actually caught interest in music thanks to Guitar Hero, >.< . I didn't care much about it up until then, but after my parents got the second one for me for Christmas one year, I ended up getting into music over time.

That being said, I think I was thirteen when I really started getting into metal. My first favorite band was Dream Theater, and I really liked Kamelot, Iced Earth (which makes it pretty unfortunate to me that the main guy behind it is such a nutjob), and Blind Guardian, too. Honestly? That's a bit of a tough question.

For the longest time, I more or less stuck to progressive metal and power metal because I got the impression that things like black metal were almost exclusively focused on Satanic themes (thanks to fans and even stuff that popped up on Pandora Radio), and as a Christian, that didn't/doesn't really sit well with me. Over time, I started to realize that my impression was wrong, though, and I started to try to get into black metal and other "extreme" genres. To this very day, I still carefully curate my music, looking for Satanic symbols and such to try to avoid bands that use them... that being said, i'll tolerate bands with atheistic or even pagan style lyrics, but there's a line that I won't cross. That's kinda why I have mixed feelings about Opeth these days, >.< . They're right on the line.

So, nowadays? I listen to pretty much every metal subgenre. With the exception of drone metal (which I have a really hard time finding interesting bands in terms of the genre), I love pretty much all of them. It keeps things from feeling stale for me, you know?

Most of the "classic" ones, like Motorhead/Iron Maiden/Black Sabbath, etc.. I can appreciate what they did for metal, but I just don't like their music at all.
