Oh, and I recommend Gold Spike. It's a casino/bar/club thing with a cover but it has a cool backyard party vibe and you could do stuff like giant Cornhole, beer pong, etc.

Im also going for the first time in October. I plan on seeing the mob and pinball museums. Apparently you can also drive a tank and potentially shoot a defunct car with its main cannon, but of course that costs money I do not have.

yeah it wont take half an hour. excalibur to NYNY to park MGM's tram --> Bellagio. Yeah it might take 20 minutes or so (or more since it's yoru first time and you'll have no idea where you're going), but the tram covers a lot of ground and you get to sit down.

the first time though you should walk to wherever youre going. walking the strip alone is an activity in itself. just sightseeing, people watching, and making notes of places to eat/see

Disagree. Excalibur is part of the main strip. It really depends where you want to go. It is towards the south end so it's not necessarily central on the strip, but not a bad location either there's still plenty next to it.

As for taxi, don't bother. Get a bus pass. It's seriously like $8 a day or something and you can use it to get to any casino on the strip you'd like.

i seriously recommend taking a look around on airbnb experiences to find stuff to do and to meet people. A week is a long time for Vegas. 2 days is too much for me.

how many days/nights and what days of the week? like are we talking a full seven nights "week" or like a M-F work trip?

in full honesty, $1k isn't a huge budget for seven days. you can definitely make do with a cheap breakfast/brunch and early dinner if you're okay with the two meal approach, but food is probably going to be close to half of your budget if you eat anywhere that isn't a fast food place. granted over half the reason i go to vegas is for the food so i do eat at some of the nicer restaurants. you might have cheaper tastes. but the food is incredible

As a couple people said you can take the monorail from MGM to various points down the strip. So you don't need to take a bus or taxi. You will have to do a little walking to get to the hotels across the street though.

No don't do that. Get a three-day monorail pass for about $30 bucks. It's unlimited rides, and it can get you from the MGM Grand to the Sahara (or anywhere in between) in about fifteen minutes.

monorail is great for getting anywhere like, caesars or further north. IMO if TC is just going to bellagio or equivalent on the opposite side, he'd be better suited to walk to the Park MGM tram.

i'd use the MGM Grand monorail for like caesars, the venetian shoppes, wynn, and maybe resorts world (or peppermill for sure) if you wanted to see that place. anything south of there, i'd walk and do the park MGM tram.
