I have an Airbnb booked for ten days starting in a couple days, but the day I plan to leave is also the day of a big festival near me. Most of my friends are going and it sounds fun. I havent bought my train ticket yet and my Airbnb is self check-in, so I could easily just go one day later. But theres so much stuff to do there that even 10 days probably isnt enough to fit in everything I want to do there.

so what do I do PotD? Ive never made a major life decision like this without your input.

Festival, Tokyo will always be there, your friends might not be.

its a big firework festival on the beach. Biggest summer fireworks festival in the prefecture I live in.

Suppose one day won't hurt. Go to the festival.

ohhh. personal thing for me, but idgaf about fireworks. I'd only make a point of going to a festival if there was something extremely interesting for me to attend. I can see my friends any time and kinda consider larger events as not as effective for socializing with them.

Basically kinda just depends on what you feel though, I can totally see someone thinking of one as more of a 'can't miss' than another. I just think Tokyo has soooo much to do and see.

for what its worth, I strongly doubt this will be my only time going to Tokyo either. Its just my first time going (technically I quarantined in a hotel in Tokyo for two weeks, but I couldnt leave the hotel and immediately after quarantine I took a train to where I am now).

So you're already in Japanland, doesn't really matter then if Tokyo is just a train trip away

Japanese beach fireworks fest sounds cool, I'd probably postpone given you're over there for awhile

also, Ill be honest (which I never am on this board so maybe the following statement is a lie), I dont care much about the fireworks or festival or seeing most the people I always see, but the person Im interested in will be going and I want to spend more time with them

eh is just one day and you can go to Tokyo again, go see that person I'd say. it'd be different if you couldn't go back, but even then might be worth the fest

I think Ive settled on going to the festival. Its supposed to be one of the more notable summer festivals near me, so Im sure Ill enjoy it regardless. The person Im interested in probably isnt interested in me in the same capacity, so Im probably wasting my time there anyway, but got to at least try so I can fail.

well have fun with it regardless! it's still a unique experience over there to enjoy no matter what comes from it

Just find a decent sized parking lot and you'll be set.

fireworks were def pretty cool and the show was an hour long, so quite a lot to see, but im too fucking old to have a goddamn crush

I prefer just pursuing my interests and being upfront about my feelings, but theres a few particular circumstances here which are preventing that from being the best decision currently. Its the wrestling of emotions without having some sort of outlet and being in some crush limbo I dont like. It makes me feel like a depressed high schooler again. Im a depressed ADULT goddammit!

yeah, it was a very cool display! Wish I could post some of the videos I took. I took well over a hundred pictures/videos, so Ive really only given a very small sample here.

theres a full video of the fireworks from a livestream they did of it, but Im not going to post it here. If anyone is interested I can message it to them assuming theyre not Sunny, Zeus, or that other dude.

yeah Im not ending my vacation early lol. I told her she (forgot to obscure the gender in that last post but I guess the cat is out of the bag now) should just come to Tokyo for my last few days. She said she would be down if she didnt have to go into work on Friday oh well
