but, if you think of the expansions as 14-2, 14-3, etc. then its just been getting better and better.

9 is factually better than 7 soooo

Not counting 14 it started after 10. The lack of any consistency or continuity among the games started to catch up. And SE wasted more time then they should have on graphics, story, lore and designs that were only going to be relavant for a single 30 hour game.

13 is a good example of this. It had so much potential but for whatever reason they soft booted everything.....twice.

I feel like the people that hate on 8 didnt play it that much or at all. Yes, the story is weird and it wont top any best of lists but its not horrible.

People also like to harp that the junction system makes it too easy but thats only if you go in deliberately trying to break it. Which could be said of any game if you do that.

Yeah no, lol. XIII is where FF actually started to turn to shit.

9 is fantastic, 10 is great, and 12 is fantastic as well, if anything FF13 is what led to the franchise's downfall.

14 was good, could have been great if they finished the last quarter

and if you wanna count FFT, that could def be said to be better than 7

But that's not a parallel comparison so it's not really fair

Personally, I think a Spirits Within game incorporating elements of a 3rd person shooter & a strategy game would be amazing. Focusing on the strengths of that movie. If it were comparable to Mass Effect or Kotor, that would sound right to me.

With a mobile port that plays like Tactics, or tie-in

the only redeeming quality was the sphere grid and similar ideas were done way better since then so now even that kinda sucks

I'll never understand the love for that game. Maybe because it was the first FF to have a fast battle system? idk but honestly it was mediocre back then and it's straight up bad now

11 > 9 > 6 > 12 > 10 > 5 > 7 > 4 > 8 > 13 > 15 > 2 > 3 > 14 > 1

If we're being honest, I haven't gotten more than 20 minutes into a final fantasy game since 10.

But that's because that's about when they started to diverge rapidly away from simple turn based combat and they didn't fulfill the same niche for me anymore.

I hate so much about 10 i can not give a fair assessment. People say its good but i literally dont find anything about the game enjoyable.

8 is flawed as hell but theres still tons of stuff i enjoy about it, for example.

14 got a lot of shit but I def loved it myself, it's a one-of-a-kind adventure with the bros

8 can get legit criticism for how breakable the battle system is imo

but also the true beauty of 8 is how breakable the battle system is imo

Did anyone play World of Final Fantasy?

It was def more childish than most FF games but it was also really well made, kind of a pokemon thing going on

9 is better than VII with regarding the plot, characters, and gameplay balance. Factually can't argue with thrse points. VIIs plot literally dissappears after midgar until half way through with the temple of the ancients.IXs plot always has engagement and objectives, no meandering like VII after Midgar.

IXs characters are so goodeven the side characters like Beatrix and cid gets devolopment. VII the cast kinda just there, with cid, Vincent and yuffie having very little reason to be there. And Vincent and yuffie don't get any developments just backstory explained.

Gameplay balance it's well known. VII is easily broken, IX is hard to break with the 9999 abilities taking forever to grind too.

That's not true, both have optional side missions that greatly expand their backstories.

Ah, I definitely misread that lol.

But to that point, very few final fantasies have character development, in that sense.

Obviously it went downhill after 7, but only for one game before it went back uphill.

In my opinion it went downhill after 10. 10-2s battle system was pretty good, but after that they strayed away from everything that made Final Fantasy a classic experience.

Now they are so focused with making action rpgs and it just pisses me off, as they quite frankly suck at making them. Now, we can bring up Draqon Quest, but to be honest, that series also pisses me off.

Dragon Quest to me is the laziest rpg series I've ever seen. They have all the makings of a great franchise, but they reuse so many assets it just boggles my mind. And don't get me wrong, I don't mind the occasional reused asset. Slimes in the game should stay the way they are. But that said, outside of bosses and landscapes everything else is just a copy paste from the previous games. I hope they change it up with Dragon Quest 12 now that the composer is dead (the guy was an asshole), but I have my doubts that's going to happen.

The DragonQuest games have always felt like cut-and-paste RPGs to me. The best way I can describe how they feel to me is to say that they always felt like they were made with RPGMaker.

Dragon quest 4, 5 , and 8 are all very much worth playing. I heard 3 was good but never had a chance to play it and I'm waiting for the pretty remake of it.

Dragon Quest is the only series that is consistent quality wise. Really 1 and 2 are ok. 3 - 8 are great. 9 is trash and 11 is just ok.
