I'm not sure I'm no expert. But I remember from a cold region survival video that they mentioned avoiding doing this because apparently you feel really hot while drinking booze because your body is releasing all your body heat.

I don't know about it tasting worse but cuisine has definitely improved over the ages as we learn different cooking methods and cuisines from different cultures are combined. A good number of "authentic" dishes used to be rather bland because that's just what impoverished people could afford to eat

depends on the region. Southern food is spicy to originally hide worse cuts or quality meat that were available for African Americans for example
