As a child I knew I was jealous of the girls who got to play the fun games like house and dolls, and do cool things like gymnastics and ballet, and wear the pretty dresses and tights to look pretty. At 12 I knew I wanted to be a girl. By my teenage years I knew I was probably trans, but didn't know what to do about that. I didn't think I would be a pretty girl and I worried about all the life experiences I grew up wanting to have that I never would even if I did transition and hey being a guy isn't that bad. By my early to mid 20s I didn't care but the finances I saw associated with transition were outside of what I could afford even on the low end and besides that I thought doctors wouldn't prescribe me hrt until I have been talking with a therapist I also couldn't afford and lived as a woman for a year. Which is the case in some places. But by my late 20s I learned about informed consent and took the plunge. Who needs money if you aren't happy anyway? Actually going through tge process I learned it was much more affordable than what it is presented as. If I knew back then what I do now I would have started years ago. VampireCoyote posted...
