I don't know much about Digimon, and I own XC2, but only got about 6 hours in.

Unfortunately, central combat mechanics are withheld from the player until like 10-20 hours in. And even then, the tutorials are so bad it might require external resources to play the game well.

I first gave up on XB2 about 5 hours in as well. The first 5 hours are honestly just bad. But I got back into it and put like 80 or 90 hours total in, most of them being very fun lol.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima.

It looks fantastic on the Switch, the story is really funny, the monster capture mechanics legitimately doesn't suck as someone who doesn't generally like monster capture stuff outside of Pokemon, and the game isn't just Reference: The Video Game. It's a full video game adventure with a whole coherent conflict, and I was pleasantly surprised at the direction the game went in.

The little versions of the FF protagonists are separate entities exclusive to this world, so while those characters reference stuff you're likely to recognise, it's a lot lighter on the continuity than you might expect and I don't think that the game is spoilery for any of the source games. The game is interested in building its own continuity in a Final Fantasy sort of way rather than coasting on the Final Fantasy guest stars and mining those source games for ideas.

Honest to God, it's the perfect length. And I found it to be the opposite of a slog where I was booting up the game just because I wanted to play more of the game, rather than just trying to get it out of the way.

I cannot recommend WoFF enough. And hey, it's on sale at the moment.

out of your options X3. Digimon isnt really an rpg from what Ive heard but mostly a Visual Novel with a bit of combat tacked on.

Been playing XC3 and it's great so far. Definitely gets my vote over your other choices.

Digimon cybersleuth is on sale, maybe I'll grab that instead of Survive.

Cybersleuth is a pretty good RPG with a great roster. You might even be able to get the Hackers Memory combo bundle (cant remember if its on the Switch). Its all subtitles though just fyi

(Cant find if this is on Switch so maybe ignore) Next Order is really good if youre more after the Virtual Pet RPG where they can die and need to be fed and cared for. But is extremely Grindy.

SMTV was a FUCKING game

I picked up Bravely Default 2 the other day and have been really enjoying it. The Legend of Mana remake is also excellent. And you cant go wrong with Dragon Wurst XI.

Havent picked up any on your list, though.

The combat gets a lot more fun as you get further into the game but at the start it's really restrictive. What I hated the most is the optimal way to play is do the first auto attack with your character and just move the analog stick so they do the first auto attack again. You do that over and over because it builds gauge faster than doing the full 3 hit auto combo.

That's when they get veal mince and mix it with halved peppercorns and cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper gives the wurst a distinct red-orangey tint like a dragon.
