The entire Guitar Hero franchise

Guitar Hero is an interesting one because like, as popular as, say, Guitar Hero II or Rock Band 2 were when they came out, there is literally zero chance of them ever being re-released, because they're outdated, licensing issue black holes. They might put out a new one, but if you wanna play the original Guitar Hero and see where it all began you'll only ever be able to do that on the PS2.

I think that these types of games are against the spirit of the question though - these are games that essentially have 'replacements.'

Rock Band 4 does work as a replacement available on a current console, but I dont think Guitar Hero has any such equivalent. They shut down Guitar Hero Live

Some other notable games I thought of

The original RE1 (unless its on the new PS+ Prenium?)

THPS series (at least THPS3 if you want to count 1+2 as an acceptable replacement)

Possibly the first two Mortal Kombat games? Not sure

This topic doesn't take emulation into consideration, but imo it should
MGS4 is the hardest high-profile game for me to play nowadays. This is the only reason stopping me from playing the series
Goldeneye was mentioned a lot here but it's easily emulateable and has been for years
I am not sure I understand why AC1 had so many posts, anything that is available on PC is considered "modern hardware" even if the game is outdated

One person put forth Assassin's Creed. The others were refuting its inclusion or just talking about the game irrelevent to the core of the topic.

Something like Melee and Wii Sports have gotten newer entries instead that is supposed to give you the same experience.

Anything that's on PC shouldn't count I agree.

If emulators count this should definitely be the right answer.

If we're talking cultural impact, MGS4 is easily the lowest ranking there out of any console MGS, let alone comparing it to Goldeneye. Even MGSV beats it on the merit of basically becoming a memorial of the shitshow Konami turned into throughout that timeframe.
