Do you like birthdays?

Are you a birthday butterfly, or a birthday bummer?

Not a fan, I appreciate what people do, but if it went ignored one year I wouldn't mind.

I love other people's birthdays, dislike my own.
I didn't use to dislike it.

I tend to forget it. Parties aren't even a factor unless I throw one for myself and invite myself. But I don't. It's not even that I hate it, or even feel indifferent. It just doesn't exist in my mind.

Indifferent but I do try to take it off for my vacation. Never works out though. I've never not worked my birthday unless I was just straight up unemployed.

I have a complete and utter disdain for people who make a big deal out of their own birthday.

If you're not a kid under 11 or turning 21 - chill out.

I usually enjoy my bday and will use it as an opportunity to get together with a few buddies for drinks.

I don't like making a big deal about it though. It's just an excuse to get together with your friends and have a good time.

The past couple years my bday has fallen on a long weekend, so everyone was partying anyway.

Ambivalent as an adult. I enjoyed birthdays a lot as a kid and in my teens cause that basically meant a fun party (laser tag at q-zar was my favorite), a lot of cool stuff and hanging out with my friends for the weekend.

I thought this question was going to be if we were happy with what time of year we were born, or would rather have a different month/day

Growing up with a summer birthday was a mixed bag. One one hand, near-maximum distance from Christmas; on the other, it's harder to get kids to attend (living out in the country and not having a sparkling outgoing personality didn't do me any favors either).

Eventually I grew accustomed to the fact that I couldn't count on friends to care about my birthday - thankfully my family always does, and that's appreciated.

My birthday is four days after the undisputed most expensive holiday of the year, so everyone was always out of money whenever it rolled around. Fuck you, Santa.

Mom always gave me the choice between a party or $100. So, I partied every year... with my buddy Benjamin Franklin.

I think it's great everyone has their own personal holiday. I do find myself getting less excited every year though. I just turned 33 last week so it's started to get a bit more dreadful. My work also gives us a dedicated day off for it so I try to do something with it like hiking, golfing, etc...

I'm not a big fan of my own birthday. I was a lonely kid growing up, so I never had big parties with lots of friends over. I have a distinct memory of arguing with my mom that I didn't want a party one year (it was at some point when I was a teenager) because nobody would come, but she was very insistent. She ended up getting me a cookie cake, which was nice.

My last two birthdays have been kinda sad. I turned 30 this year and have been going through some personal troubles. Last year, my long-term partner cheated on me and dumped me about a week before my birthday (and then came crawling back about three weeks later).

About five years before that, she threw me a wonderful surprise party and invited a bunch of my friends. It was a ton of fun, it made me feel really loved, and I appreciated her for doing it. Unfortunately, as I would find out she had a habit of doing, she didn't really have the money for it and went into debt to pay for it. That ended up being a pattern with her: big, extravagant show of money/affection -> resulting debt -> blaming me for the debt.

So, I don't have too fond an outlook on my own birthday. I cringe when people give me things because I assume it's either a) a way to get into my pants or b) something that they're going to hold over me down the line.

I'm somewhere in between 2 and 3.

At 44, I don't go out of my way to tell people it's my birthday, nor really do any sort of celebration, other than maybe dinner out with my wife and kids, but I also don't dread the day like it's the worst day of the year.

It's usually just a day.

It completely depends on the year.
Some years I want to get out do things...see people and stuff.
Others I just assume go into the mountains, no cell service.

Or I could always go to The Track...if it fall right anyway.

This year, was a stay in year.
I was just over dealing with the current weather.

Having message everyone who knows and loves you can be exhausting though.
It's nice, but at the end of the day it can take something out of you.

I did play the Piano for about 5 hours over 24 hours.
Yesterday was actually a recoup day.
