The water was already being boiled in one of the stations. She didn't boil the water just to pour it on the customers lol still incredibly fucked up

Having worked in a kitchen before there's like a shit ton of things you could use but it shouldn't even get that far.

Having worked in a Taco Bell, I can tell you there are not. They don't have prep knives because all the product comes pre-diced/shredded/etc. The box cutters are safety blades that only have like a 1mm blade. The only other option would have been fry oil, which is about 400 degres.

I'm not defending the customers either! I think they're fucking pieces of shit too. But pouring boiling hot water on someone is fucking depraved. I'm not gonna defend either parties here.

And I've worked in multiple kitchens, both fast food and fine dining. Food is way easier to make someone stfu and go away by giving them what they want than like retail.

Apparently it's ok to permanently injure the adult and minor.

This is all false. The water was pulled out of a heating pit, not boiled specifically for throwing on the customers. If you actually watch the video you see this.

As a side note, this pit is used to heat up product and isn't even boiling, though it is scalding.

I don't think they have much of a case.

Specially without audio, we have to assume this employee was being threatened. Coming behind the counter indicates all kinds of things. The water was going into defensive mode. An employee has the right to defend themselves from crazed customers.

Specially after we hear stories how customers attack and even kill fast food workers.

Taco Bells don't have "boilers." In the video in the op you can clearly see her dip the pitcher into the pit and run it out to the counter at 1:15.

She didn't need to throw boiling fucking water on the adult or minor. She took her time to gather the boiling water.

Objectively wrong. Why are you lying about what we all see in the video? She literally dips the pitcher into the not-boiling water and carries it quickly towards the counter. How do you even "take your time collecting boiling water" when it's in a giant vat you dip a pitcher into?

The fact is the evidence is in the employees favor. Only thing to her them would be witnesses from other customers and other employees. If they say it was self defense it's easily proven.

Going behind the counter in a restaurant is automatically tresspass and a violation of several safety regulations. Doing it during an argument with the employees is indisputably threatening.

Taco Bell doesn't have any equipment that can make boiling water. There's the heating pit that sits at about 180 I think and there's a bunn heater that provides hot water at a similar temp. But none of this is relevant to the fact that the employees acted in self-defense, whether the water was boiling or merely scalding.

Boiling water is extreme and I won't be suprised if they get sued successfully but I don't blame them for defending themselves

If the hospital report/records say the woman was transported to the ICU burn ward then there's no disputing that.

I assume there are police reports too.

You're wrong, it absolutely is threatening, but it's really easy to play judgmental armchair detective from the safety of a third party perspective after the fact. You know the customer didn't have a weapon, for instance, but there's no way for the employee to know that in the moment.

The dining room was likely already closed. It's almost midnight according to the tape. They may have let them in and then locked it behind them so that no other customers would try to get in.

It's sad that this is the only thing from my post that you can nitpick. The girl followed her mom behind the counter. Either the mom's responsible or the child is. Either way, they were both trespassing.

The second the customer stepped in the area for employees only, all bets are off. I get tired of hearing workers lose their lives due to customers being mad over an order. The customer played the **** around game.
