WoFF Maxima is a fantastic game. The visuals are great, the creature capture mechanic genuinely isn't annoying or ass, the stacking mechanic is pretty fun because you can customise your stats depending on what each creature specialises in and you can change your position in the stacks by changing size.

The story is a lot of fun, there's a lot of humour but there are also some pretty impressive stakes. The fanservice is great, but the game doesn't boil down to that fanservice and the game doesn't really spoil anything from the source games. Rather than being the original characters shrunk down to Funko Pop size, these characters are distaff counterparts who exist in a wholly original world.

I'm making a thread because in the past couple of years, Maxima has been the one RPG that hasn't felt like a chore to play. You know when you want to play a game but there's some degree of commitment that you have to give it, and it can be tough to stay engaged or even find the time to play it? World of Final Fantasy was very much its own reward. I never had to put anything off to the side, I never had to compromise, because I never played this game for the sake of getting it out of the way. Every time I booted it up, I was excited to play more World of Final Fantasy.

If you haven't played it, I would highly recommend it. I think you'll be surprised at how genuinely funny and enjoyable it is, you'll probably enjoy how it looks - because even on Switch, it's gorgeous - and I don't think you'll be disappointed or burnt out when it comes to the runtime. World of Final Fantasy is fantastic, and if you've got like twenty bucks to spend on a new game, I would highly recommend this game.

Also, as a post-script: the Switch port probably isn't perfect, but I thought it looked and played fantastic. I bet it'd look even better if you got it on another platform, but as far as Switch ports go, WoFF is up there as one of the better ones.

Your recommendation makes me want to try, but I have too much stacked on my gaming plate to give it a go. I'll wishlist it for later.

adding to this, there's a requirement to fulfill before catching a creature like hit a weakness. However if you fulfill the requirement multiple times in a battle you make the catch rate 100%
