ReturnOfFa 07/22/22 4:25:40 AM #1:	They were my first concert when I was 15...definitely didn't listen to them as much throughout my later 20s, but I've just been seshing the whole pre-Steven Page leaving discography and loving it for the past few months. It's funny that I didn't really pick up as a kid that Steven mainly sings the emotional song and Ed is mostly the silly guy. But also Ed's singing - more of an everyman's voice - much easier to sing, still very emotive. A lot of silly lyrics and wordplay from him. the brief harmonies and featured songs from Jim (bass), Andy (keys/percussion til '95), and Kevin (keys post-'95) Jim's killer melodic/harmonic basslines Tyler's drumming is very straight, but extremely solid, dynamic, with great fills. It sounds simple, but there's a lot of hidden complexity. Most songs tend to have a lot of structure, but aren't on the simplest side of pop, so besides verses and a chorus there's usually a bridge or even two. That's dark af. Oh yeah baby, Steven is a dark boi. Love Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep At The Wheel...love that whole album. I thought I read or heard recently that Ed wrote that song? Could be wrong though, the credits on wiki aren't clear enough. That album (Maroon) always felt like their most 'adult' to me. I mean, very white contemporary adult life, but yeah lol.
