I'm with ya. I've dated women with red hair, auburn hair and even pink hair. None of them worked out at all, except the auburn haired one was pretty great. I had thought that one would last but oh well. It was an awesome 2 months.

The pink haired one was nuts and hates me now.

Well, my ex girlfriend of 2 years used to change her hair color on a regular basis. It was great but then I also had to deal with her possible borderline personality disorder. So sometimes you gotta take what you can get lol

Beautiful red haired women were shunned as witches who charmed powerful men.

Then there is the children's fiction angle. Just about every girl protagonist either has red hair or is given red hair in an adaptation to make them standout. Also, due to the cultural connotation of red hair being connected to evil, it's an easy way to ostracize them without making them unpalatable to the reader. Because they are usually quirky and the center of attention, they inadvertently have the manic pixie dream girl thing going for them.
