A lot happened in last week's ep, not sure how they're gonna top it or where they'll even go from here. It's going to be interesting to see Jimmy deal with the guilt by leaning into the Saul Goodman character, while Kim just takes everything head on.

Side note: I decided to try the AMC+ free trial and the quality is fucking terrible lol Def not keeping this sub.

RIP Lalo. Not really though. He can burn.

I am curious just how much of the show will spend time with Gus and Mike now.

If we get people shit talking Howard and making fun of him for going on a bender, that's gonna be rough.

I hope it is. I'm glad they got the Lalo arc out of the way. That kinda dragged. I'm in this for Saul, not more cartel noise.

I subbed through Amazon and just use the Prime app to get the same benefits. Works much better.

Jesus. Well fuck. I did not expect that to all play out the way it did. Not the giant time skip.

Actually made me really sad that we are just...done with Better Call Saul. It was jarring. Now we are full on past that time period and deal with what could be the intro to Breaking Bad any day now.

Real curious how the show even handles it. If we end up spending a significant amount of time with "Gene".

yea, this episode had me kinda feeling bad for Gus.

he was clearly into the wine guy, but him losing his "partner" in such a tragic way most likely means he never allowed himself to get close to anyone again.

but I thought BB said he had a family, or something, so idk if that was retconned out.

No one online is really talking about Mike's story this ep cuz so much shit happened with everyone else but I think his turned out just as tragic as everyone elses. Both him and Nacho's dad share the same fate, losing their son to crime and all. And the "all you gangsters are all the same" line or whatever was a gut punch with how much Mike has tried to not lose himself to the game the entire series.

But the real kick in the ass this ep had to be either "I love you too... but so what?" or Kim putting Howard's death on Cheryl. God damn. Kim better have some significant scenes in the next few eps, she'll be sorely missed if not. Seriously one of the best performances in television history imo.

My predictions for the rest of this show:

-Episode 10 is where Saul first meets Mr. Mayhew AKA Walter White; the final scene of episode 9 takes place shortly before that happens.
-Episodes 10-12 will all be Breaking Bad timeline from Sauls perspective (with some Gus and Mike stuff mixed in)
-Final episode will be post Breaking Bad, picking up where we last left off with Gene. Here he will reunite with Kim, who we find out used the vacuum service to return to her home state of Nebraska. Together the two of them will have one last fun adventure together before something happens that ends with one (possibly both) of them going to prison.

No, she loves him, and protects him. But also realizes she cant be around him.

At the memorial when Howards wife was giving them a hard time about being the last people to see him, and the wife not buying Sauls story, Kim was the one who stepped in to protect him.

Howard had told them he had been sleeping in the guest house for months (the wife didnt think he had told anyone). And Kim used that against the wife. The story about finding Howard in the office snorting cocaine lined up with when he started sleeping in the guest house. Then saying you were his wife you should have known knowing full well that they werent spending much time together.

But that story is also the point where Kim realizes how horrible she becomes when shes with Saul.

My mind went back to Something Stupid when they both said they loved each other.

We had another character death in this episode: Jimmy McGill. Loved the transition to the BB timeline. He even mentions the public masturbater that he got Badger confused with.

Yeah. Liked the shot where the chain link fence was in front of mike making him look imprisoned, but not in front of Papa Varga. Mike is still trapped in the game while Nacho's father is not.

I think this is the most we have to go on Gus having a family. He says "the kids won't eat it" and there are some children's toys in the background when Walt walks in.

There's no confirmation he has kids, the kids he is talking about are his actual children or simply relatives we don't know about, or if it was just a show to put Walt at ease.

Either way, I'm really hoping that scene can make the "Gus doesn't like men!!!" shut up. I remember when people were theorizing Gus and Max were in a relationship, a good amount of the fanbase was very adamant that was incorrect and defaulted Gus to heterosexual.

This actually bugged me, Kim is a horrible person and I don't know if the show intended her to come across that way or not but it was filmed like they didn't.

You cannot blame Saul for the actions Kim as an adult choose to do. Especially the Howard scam when Saul was begging her not to do it right up until D-Day and she was constantly pressuring him to do so.

But Kim flat out went to a manipulative "When you're with me, I act out and do things I don't do alone" which is the controling logic abusive sponses use.

She also didn't talk to him, didn 't think it through, abandoned her cilents in the trash, gave up on being a lawyer after a decade of hard work. Stopped caring about all her passions, plans and dreams.

This isn't someone taking responsibility. She didn't move to Arizona and start a new Daredevilesq pratice, she didn't to go the police. She just blamed Saul (And yes, don't argue. She blamed her own actions on the infulence of Saul's dick) and cowardly ran away from all her responsibilites.

It was exetremely chilish and narcssistic.

Which is fine but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way that the way the show was filmed and shown seemed to demonstrate her as if she was doing the right thing and had a point..

She pretty much acted like a Junkie who got her drugs taken away and decided to respond by burning everything down, ignoring all consequences and blaming everyone else for her actions.

one of the finer tricks of BB is to continually convey that walt was the one the viewer should be rooting for. and a lot of us did even after the body count piled up

kim is not quite the monster that walt was but she is treading some of the same territory

These last few episodes should be amazing since the audience doesnt know what happens in the post BB timeline. We already knew the fate of the majority of these characters. Thats why I felt like the Gus vs. Lalo confrontation was a little underwhelming since we knew who was going to die and who was going to live. Other than that the writers have done a great job at keeping us on our toes.

My only gripe with this episode is that the fallout of the Gus/Lalo situation resolved itself too conveniently. I get that they needed to wrap up this arc so they could jump forward to the BB timeline, but it makes absolutely zero sense that Hector would go to Don Eladio and accuse Gus without so much as a shred of evidence. Especially when its literally the exact thing he warned Lalo not to do.

BB and BCS are so character-driven that it sucks to see this instance of them completely betraying a character in order to get the plot where they needed it to be. I truly love these shows and I was genuinely curious how they were going to get themselves out of the fact that Hector could simply tell the twins or Tuco (once he got out of prison) about what happened with Lalo and Gus would have another round of snooping Salamancas on his hands.

Other than that, I loved the episode. The stuff with Mike, especially the scene with him and Nachos dad, the scene with Gus at the wine bar, Kims realization of who she had become, and her disgust with herself all brilliantly done. Even the cartel meeting had some great momentsEladio telling Gus that he saw Gus hatred but saw it as a healthy thing, the shot of Gus looking down at the pool. That and the side shot of Mike and Nachos dad, where Mike is partly obscured by the chain link fence were my two favorites of the episode. Outstanding shots.

Once she turned around to save D-Day I realized she was the villain. Not in the same way Gus or Lalo were the villains but she definitely intentionally is setting things on fire for her own pleasure and at the expense of innocent people.

i agree the whole scene was rushed. could have been handled better

the writers like to concoct parallel lessons in both the law and cartel side. i think they were trying to make a point about knowledge and proof and evidence. both hector and cheryl were RIGHT. they KNEW. but both were susceptible to be dismissed as overly emotional (hector just hates gus) (cheryl is just distraught) when they sought to persuade others of their knowledge, without evidence

But I think what Kim said to Howard's widow in this episode has to be the most fucked up thing Kim's done to date. Just making the poor woman feel like absolute shit in such a cold ass strategic way.
