I recently started a new game and I must say, I think I'm gonna revise my opinion on its state as a game. Sure they didn't deliver what they promised and hyped up in any form but it's still a pretty good game. I got into a little discussion with someone here once and he was arguing how immersive Night City was and I disagreed, if you're around fella you were right. I had forgotten how the game world pulls you in during my break from it.

If you're on the fence about Cyberpunk I'd say pick it up, it's very worth it. Interesting characters, good dialogues and interesting quests with a lot to do if you take the time to look around and do them.

Recent QoL has bumped up my enjoyment a lot too, especially with the map system. It's pretty great now.

I had so much fun with my last play through. Still needs some tweaks but I'd give it an 8.25/10. Easily one of my favorite video game worlds ever.

I haven't played since they "fixed" it but I did have a great time even on the OG release.

I was fortunate enough to play it on PC when it first released, where it was in much better condition than the console ports. The main story is great but the stuff around it feels a mile wide but only an inch deep, and it could've used a little more substance in the combat and bio modding.

I will say - it's a hell of a showcase for RTX. But without DLSS it absolutely murders your GPU.

I definitely feel like there's a significant difference between the three or four city blocks around your apartment and most of the rest of the map. It feels a little bit like they got trapped by the open world problem of needing to make each world bigger than the last, when I think this game would have been much stronger with a much smaller map with a lot more to do in that square footage.

I think it might have been me you argued with! I feel like the city is extremely dense with all kinds of interesting things that make you feel like you're in a real world. One of the few games where ill just slowly walk around and look at things.

I went for a headshot crit sniper build, which unfortunately completely trivialized the game once I got the OverWatch sniper rifle, which would both reveal enemy positions through walls and allow me to headshot them through it. I believe they have since patched that ability out of the rifle, though.

It was a solid 8/10 for me. They absolutely didn't deliver on all of the things they promised. But what is there, is still a lot of fun.

I played at launch on PC and had only a few visual glitches. Nothing that prevented me from enjoying the game. Hell, it only crashed when I started intentionally breaking the game on playthrough 2.

I could literally clear entire missions from the starting area by hacking a camera, marking targets, and then headshotting them from the entrance. It wouldn't set off any alarms, either, because the overwatch has a built in silencer, and the stacked crit multipliers meant anything that wasn't a boss died in 1 hit. Plus crafting meant the gun was always at my level so I never had to deal with scaling issues.

PS5 version is phenomenal but the game's shortcomings still lie in its content by which there isn't really much happening at all in Night City.

You can break in to mission relevant doors but you're forbidden to do so in most open world apts. You can solicit sex from a specific sex worker with its own cutscenes, but you can't try it with the other 99% of the population, nor can you even have any real interaction or conversation with citizens.

Just things like that are what felt disappointing regardless of how vastly improved the game is now.

My first build wasn't anything special. Just tried to build critical as much as possible, but then I realized that ignoring the other trees made certain missions harder. Like the fight club missions were soooo hard because I was not built for melee at all. So I started putting points in a little bit of everything lol.

2nd character though, I did a hacking build and that was incredibly OP. Quick hacks with contagion could spread to multiple targets. So you could instantly take out 3-4 people with one attack. And you could do it from pretty far away. It was hilarious, but made the game really easy.

Haha yeah I think it was. I started playing again and remembered that topic so I was like "I'll give that style a chance." and you were right. I've stumbled into a lot of conversations between NPCs that are like little stories as well. Finding crime scenes and listening to the NCPD discuss it.. stuff like that.

The one side mission with the murderer-turned-messiah was so well written and ethically complex, I can't believe they couldn't make other things like it.

Yeah I stumbled upon some weird things sometimes. Like once I was walking down the street in the corporate area and this npc "fell" out of one of the high rises. Just screaming then he hit the pavement in front of me. I was like... was that a glitch or did this guy just get tossed out of a building? Lol

It takes really good writers to come up with ethical dilemmas that aren't a black/white duality. That was among the best I've ever seen in a game, because it's clear that he's being manipulated, but it's also clear that he views this as his opportunity to atone for his past sins. What really sold it to me is that it's one of the very few situations that even Silverhand couldn't feel comfortable about.

And also dealt with concepts such as forgiveness and redemption in a more realistic way, by showing how not everyone is quite ready to forgive, and not every redemption story turns out well.
