No idea what it is even supposed to be.

If just permanent VR, I sincerely doubt it.

Of course not. It's dead on arrival. Nobody that understands money thought it would be a thing.

Nowhere near as big as they're trying to sell it as. It'll probably be a fad at some point, with just die-hard weirdos sticking around after a few months.

Web 2.0 wasn't a thing. E-commerce wasn't a thing. It's just the intarnetz and buying and sellin shit on it.

There, demystified.

The tech lingo is just corporate marketing used to excite large investors and get their minds around a cohesive package of goods and services.

It's all about making money. The fact that you can do something or enjoy the functionality of something as a consumer is incidental. Trust me, the raison d'etre is cash money.

Uhhh
Web 2.0 was absolutely a thing and has been accepted as being a thing for almost 2 decades:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0
Also Web 3.0 is also a thing, which is ironic because those cryptocurrency scammers love to co-opt phrases that are already widely accepted in the greater software community.

It supposed to be a combo of VR/AR, Gaming, NFT, Crypto, etc that will shape the Tech space in the Future

Triple no then. Although we might go for more, would the etc include lootboxes and other gambling mechanics?

See nobody is going to use VR to shop at Walmart or Amazon or whatever. Just go on their website. It's faster, easier, you don't need a fucking dedicated VR space in your home, and it's way less intrusive.

who said you needed a 'dedicated' space? Just use your Computer/Occulus/Smartphone/etc

Also in the VR (or an MMO type character Open World) you would be able to 'Virtually' try on Clothes/Shoes that match your real world body type/stats to see how it would look on you...w/o having to try it on or worry about it not fitting...

I'd still rather click a button than use a clunky VR interface. papercup is noting the stupidity of having to go shopping in a virtual store and having to waste time 'walking around' and 'grabbing things'. at least trying on clothes in a game is in a game. if it's real life stuff, I'm looking for efficiency, and VR shopping is not.
