So like, a chunk of world data is 16x16x384 (x,y,z) and the most local maps are 8x8 chunks where the one I'm on now in Survival Island starts at -64, -64, sea level.

So I figured why not put a barrier around the old 3/4 size zoomed out maps and grid the entire land. This way I make a big wall with all the 0/4 maps pasted together for a giant map of my land. It should dynamically draw itself in as I build too.

If I continued building based on the grid, it would allow for easier travel with railroads too and would look neat. You could even make a metro area. I wonder I'd anyone has ever done that.

Do any of you guys build with respect to the chunks? I wonder if it would change anything. In any case I'm going to use the grid pattern for the farms since 32x32 fits neatly in them. Maybe fence the whole 3/4 map eventually since it's a Waterworld area.

The spawn point is on the upper left Island. Plenty of ocean by me to create more islands and connect them with bridges.

Only when I'm dealing with stuff that requires chunkloading, which is mostly a modded thing.

I'm on my ps4 so I won't be doing that. When I used mcedit on my pc I mostly just expedited large square mines down to bedrock in the ocean.

I think this time I'm gonna just use oak wood and make 16x16 on the grid and fill it in with grass. My pretend ocd seems to like the idea. Nowadays for bedrock mines I just dig straight down after a backup and make height chambers for the mineral pocket locations. I used to not know about them, but can't put that cat back in the bag.
