I thought if one were to look deep enough into space, in any direction, there would be near an infinite amount of stars at various depths and distances, fully covering the entire spectrum of observation. Just curious why that picture doesn't completely light up. That would only happen if the universe was static and not expanding. So as Sariana said, in an expanding universe, some will eventually show up and some have moved beyond the threshold. Right now, we can see 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe and eventually, another 2.7 trillion would come into view for a total of 4.7 trillion.
