At first I saw Kingpin and was like "WTF IT'S KINGPIN!!!" So glad I wasn't spoiled yet. Immediately started thinking of Daredevil shared universe possibilities (although Disney Marvel has pulled a Boner on us before so I've kind of mellowed now and lost my zest after everything that happened)

But then in the last episode I was like why is this Kingpin a bit... goofier, is it the Hawaiin shirt? What is this Hawaiin/Cuban nightclub version of Kingpin. The battle with Kate was particularly Disneyish with him just throwing her around... but I liked it anyway. And the way they wrapped up his introduction as soon as it began with that gangster Maya just shooting him or whatever. What is with that Maya woman I don't really... what's the word... care about her or her story at all.

I really want to dislike yelena because her ridiculously fake accent annoys me (even more than avengers 2 scarlet witch) but her Kate interactions are so good. Even though the generic battle with Hawkeye was just aiight. But I do get that there might not have been an opportunity for Hawkeye to have known her before and after Black Widow's demise. So we get the cliche "save... mothra" "how do you know that whistle?!" type scene but I'll give it a pass.

Mostly because those Kate and Yelena interactions are hilarious I love it. That dress-to-suit scene was like one of those youtube dress changes and I cracked up. Also Kate's dress in general made her looks absolutely divine. Good wardrobe set.

I really didn't like the "mom you're bad you go jail now!" part I was not really feeling that vera farminga deserved that considering all Kate herself has done. It's also weird, is vera farminga high enough up in the ladder that she ordered the death of armand, or executed it on Kingpin's orders, or asked Kingpin to kill him, because I kind of got a little lost on what happened there. If he was killed with a sword then was she always planning on framing her fiance Jack and she's simultaneously heartless but also in love and/or loves her daughter? Needed more focus on her.

Speaking of Jack... I knew he was a red herring in some way, but I did not expect him to be out and out good and not harboring a secret at all, he was already hella likable before but by the end he is one of the BEST side characters of this show, going back and rewatching his scenes is even better. Soo good. Easily a highlight of the show as much as Hailee Steinfeld herself

Overall, it's the most "sidestory" feeling series I've watched up to this point

Like Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it's tying up loose ends from Phase 3 while setting up characters for Phase 4/5.

What the heck was with the watch? I thought it was the avengers time travel watch they used in endgame but then hawkeye gives it to his wife... wtf? She didn't have any part of that heist so now I don't know what that could be.

Speaking of I really like that this show does some things differently than more generic shows and movies in the past. Eg in a generic show about a superhero's work-life balance Hawkeye's wife would usually be complaining to him and reprimanding him that he's not with them yet for christmas but instead here not only is she understanding, she's actively supportive and helping him to get home quicker.

And while Kate felt a little old for Hawkeye to bring her to his christmas family time like she was some kinda surrogate daughter, it's still sweet. Normally his actual daughter would be jealous that her dad is spending time with this stranger training her (since it seemed like he was training his actual daughter at the beginning of endgame) but she was welcoming in a perfectly saccharine manner and sugary sweet ending

Why do they hate agents of shield so much it's bad enough they wrote her out of the show for a spinoff series that they later killed and didn't even give the courtesy of airing the pilot... meaning they wrote her out of aos for no good reason

Also I guessed wrong like a 3rd time, I thought Elaine was gonna be in this like how she was in Black Widow coaxing Yelena to get revenge on Hawkeye, and then in Falcon and the Winter Soldier but I guess... no? So what Yelena is back to being an assassin for hire, that's what a "Black Widow" is now, how did vera farminga reach out to her I thought Yelena was doing a whole "free all the women spies and reconnect with fake family" thing.

Also the midcredits extended broadway song of the hilarious steve rogers musical felt... less funny than the first time. It was a much funnier bit in the first episode with a frowning hawkeye watching it (even though batman beyond did this first, so credit where credit is due)

They should have at least cut to, I dunno, Yelena watching it with an eyeroll expression or something to sell it. Since it went on a little long even though it's very good.

Kate telling Yelena "stop making me like you!" is basically the ethos of her character...
