I always loved him in Misery playing opposite Kathy Bates. Two incredible performances in a very good movie.

I never could watch Misery all the way. I cringe too much when people are getting tortured. I can take it sometimes, but if it seems clinical like it was done in that bed it just weirds me out and makes me want a run away.

I watched Hostel 1 and 2 no problem though. I think because I knew it wasn't real. With Misery something in my mind reacts badly to it. Who knows... I'm weird.

according to the newradio commentary of the episode he was in, he tried to get Andy Dick to narcotics anonymous

it's only alluded to, but they mention it.

If he'd succeeded, maybe it'd have saved Phil Hartman and his wife, and maybe the magic of The Simpsons could have lasted another season or two before it went downhill. We will never know.

That said, I don't remember liking James Caan's movies. He was good in them, but the movies themselves... meh.

This...he was decent in 'The Program', a little known College Football movie that had some popular actors star in it (Halle, Omar Epps)

it was basically the College Version of 'Any Given Sunday' but with Sonny as the Coach instead of Michael

I always loved him in Misery playing opposite Kathy Bates. Two incredible performances in a very good movie.

The role was also offered to Al Pacino, Robert Redford, and Harrison Ford because the director wanted an actor known for playing manly men. All of them refused because they thought it would ruin their image if audiences saw them being helpless and tortured by a woman. James Caan was the first to accept.

The dude had no ego. He was an actor first.
