You can make reservations up to 60 days in advance, which I was unaware about until recently since we havent been to DW since 2018 before they had all this stuff.

Our trip is a month from now, going for three days and theyre all booked up. :(

Also even though we bought park hopper tickets we still have to reserve a park for each day and then can park hop after 2pm. I remember when we went last time we could just show up to whatever park we felt like going to that day and go wherever we wanted.

Its a big family trip mainly for the kiddos at this point but these changes are kind of disappointing.

Yea my sister works for Disney so we used to go all the time. But yeah it's changed a lot since covid. I had no idea some things were booked so far in advance. I built a lightsaber in 2019 before all this shit.

It's just a hassle these days to even go.

Yeah if it was just my wife and I wed do like one day there and the rest at Universal but its a big family trip so the kids want Disney :(

I went to Disney World back in the 1990s. The lines for everything were horrible at Magic Kingdom. It was also the "slow" time of year.

Last time I was there, selected rides had a fast past ticket machine, that you could push a button, and get a fast past ticket.

We were there last month, and booked our trip like 60 days in advance, and the week we wanted Magic Kingdom, only 1 day still had reservations available.

I imagine lots of families' vacays are ruined bc they don't understand the reservation system and show up the day of and can't get into a park.

Whoa didn't realize it worked like that now, that sounds like a nightmare. When I went (precovid) if I had a 4 day ticket I could hit up any park whenever I wanted and knock them all out in those 4 days. Now it sounds like that's extremely impossible to do without some grace of God . I haven't been since 2012 though before they changed a lot of stuff and added the star wars shit (which I don't care about , I'm completely over stupid sci fi shit humanity will never be able to achieve, I'm more Interested in the avatar ride...let me see a planet before humans fucked it up)

You are going during peak summer vacation time, and did no research of any kind ??

Wait, you need a reservation to even get in the park now? You can't buy a ticket at the gate anymore?

i mean i get it. peak summer vacay, stuff has started to open up, families can be together again... too bad you and literally millions of others are having the same idea.

I wanted to go in October when its cheaper and not as packed since people are in school. All the family members tagging along pushed for August so their kids wouldnt miss school -_-

I knew about the reservations but didnt expect them to be totally booked up a month in advance :(

Oh well, a $250 lightsaber is kind of a dumb thing to spend money on anyway

I think you still can, but you arent guaranteed to get into the park you want that day unless its reserved in advance.

So even if you buy your tickets months in advance and you get there and didnt make the reservations to go into that park that day youre kinda boned

Luckily the parks we want were all available and are reserved now, its just a couple of the experiences we wanted to do are already unavailable.

My brother just went there 2 weeks ago. He built his own lightsaber and his daughter built one for me. I think he booked it 2 weeks in advance. I also got 2 extra kyber crystals... Although fun fact, the crystals color can be changed via RFID. So if you ever want to change your saber color, all you have to do is get a RFID reader and change the number in your crystal.

But aren't the tickets the reservation? Aren't the dates printed on the tickets? If you buy a ticket for a certain date, that should be enough to allow you entry.

Nope, when you buy tickets there are multiple disclaimers that you also need a park reservation. I was there last month, everyday Magic Kingdom had a big sign at parking entry that no park reservations were available for the day. And yeah I saw people that went up to entry to the park get turned away.

That's just dumb and flabbergastedish to me.

The tickets are good for a range of days

Like we have park hopper tickets for three days but theyre valid for any day within a range of like 5 days. But you still have to select the first park you want that day then can park hop after 2pm.

Yeah, its really dumb and overly complicated now. I remember in 2018 we just went wherever the hell we wanted whenever the hell we wanted to.

Looking forward to our two days at Universal a lot more.

Okay just a thought: if youre there for multiple days Id check out to see if any time slots are available for lightsaber building on any of those other days. If so, just switch the park reservations so youre at Hollywood Studios on the day there is a slot and go to another park on the day you were gonna go there.

Its completely booked on all three days were there, unfortunately

Reservations are there for a reason and especially now when people are willing to travel again for vacation in large numbers.

Disney World especially would be pack at this time so you really only con yourself thinking itll be fine.

Guess some people have to learn the hard way even when Disney tells you all this so you dont get screwed.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the way they do stuff now.
