There are tons of other restaurants. Five Guys is way better but never stops traffic.

I honestly don't know why they have turned into such an issue, they weren't like this prior to the pandemic, at least around here. I know their indoor dining is still closed but they were never that big in the first place and I would assume turned customers around more slowly than the drive through. I'm curious to see if their sales have actually increased during the pandemic, like people saw the crowds and figured it must be good so they got in line too.

You serious Willis? They rank as the national favorite fast food place. Anecdotally, I know people that used to spend hundreds of dollars there a month for their family.

They have been an Oddworld style juggernaut For awhile.

Ours has inside dining, and a new building with a better location so the drive thru doesn't overlow into the road and it still disrupts traffic.

Where exactly are you?

I don't think I've ever seen traffic at a Chik-Fil-A that was more appreciable than any other fast food place. At least not so much that I've even remotely seen it affecting traffic as a whole. But maybe you're in a more rural area with worse roads where it shows up more. Or maybe your area is more culturally motivated to eat tons of Christian-endorsed chicken. Or maybe some other factor.

The new location is waaaay better. But you can tell there is traffic in places there weren't before as people are going there.

Every Chic-fil-a here is busy all of the time, even before the pandemic. The corners with Chic-fil-a on them are always traffic hazards to be avoided unless you plan to eat there.

They are supper efficient compared to pretty much any other fast food place, though. I regularly get into a line with 20 cars in front of me, but I still get through the line in 10 minutes or so.

I don't think any of our local ones are doing dine-in just yet; drive through only.

I'm not saying they weren't popular, I'm just saying our's never had the same impact on traffic as they do now and the volume of people I see waiting at the drive thru seems more than what I would expect just because the indoor dining is closed.

The lines for the ones around here are insane. There is one I drive by fairly often that shares a parking lot with a gas station/convenience store and the drive through line routinely raps around the building and obstructs both driveways into the gas station. It splits into two lines at one point and they have people with tablets going down both lines taking orders to try and keep up.

I've never understood how fast food places become traffic issues period. Like, I'm no snob, I'll eat pretty much anywhere, but if I see a line going out into actual traffic, I'm not gonna wait in that shit.

I've been to them in California, D.C., Tennessee, Louisiana, Colorado and they always look like it is Black Friday for chicken.

Colorado surprised me the the most...culturally one would think they wouldn't be that into Chik Fil A but they shut down a lane of traffic outside of Arvada.

While Chick Fil As get extremly busy around here they're always incredibly efficient and I rarely see cars leading out into a road, and if they do it's never for more than a couple of minutes. I live in a metropolitan area.

I have noticed more and more of them are Installing 3 drive-thru lanes and always have someone taking orders outside aswell.

Seriously I've waited at empty Wendy's lot 10x as long as it's ever taken me to get Chic Fil A.

I've never seen a fast-food place affect traffic

Chik-Fil-A's drive-thru is often backed up though, especially around lunch and dinner time

For a long time all of them around here were in malls, it is probably only in the last ten or so years they started building standalone stores.

A chik-fil-a line backed up into traffic will be done faster than 5 cars at a mcdonald's

Five Guys is a fundamentally different business. It's closer to a fast-casual than fast food.

Also mad props to the tweet's Popeye's shoutout.
