First of all, there are people who DON'T know (weren't you one of them? when you first posted you were playing it and were unaware of the monetization involved) or who have gambling or other addiction issues that make them vulnerable to this massively exploitative scheme and get taken for thousands of dollars, ruining their lives. Plus the potential for kids to get suckered in and spend their parents' money (not sure what age rating Diablo Immoral has; there was a big story about this happening w/ a Fifa Soccer game rated E, though).

Second of all, "yeah, we know they're evil. so what? stop complaining about it" is a horrible attitude to have.

From what I can tell, it's actually physically impossible to get anything above a 2* gem in the game without spending money. If it was just campaign based it wouldn't be a big deal, but PvP is a big aspect of the game. There's a bunch of videos out there of people maxing out their characters as far as they can, then jumping in a PvP lobby and their entire team getting wiped by a whale in under a minute.
