The OP's sons got into a spat, so the youngest one then snuck in and got ahold of the other brother's device, opened his game, and then Unfavorited and Transferred 140+ Legendary, Shiny, Perfect, etc. Pokemon that he had. Obviously, the older brother is completely devastated. The OP is trying to contact Niantic to see if they can restore his account to an earlier state, but I doubt they will do anything about it.

Gaming or not, what would you do if someone just deleted all of your hard work out of spite?

Yep. Some may say this isn't an actual big deal, its just a game, whatever. But that younger brother is now an enemy in the eys of the older. That can be a life changing thing.

When I was young, my own dad destroyed an expensive transformer in front of me in a fit of rage, and from that point on, he became an antagonist in my eyes, someone to avoid, lie to, and not be close with. This stuff is formative.

He transferred (as in, to the in-game Professor, which is essentially deleting the Pokemon), not traded.

So as a dad - other than a severe brother on brother ass kicking.

Id rule that the younger brother would have to give up something or things of equal value as fair restitution if the account couldnt be recovered.

even if it could be recovered there needs to be a punishment to fit the crime.

It's not that it's a game, it's something he put a LOT of time and effort into. If you collected stamps for 10 years, you'd be super pissed if someone destroyed them and was like "lol they're just stamps, who cares?".

I mean, stamps are something you can keep forever and pass down. If Pokemon GO stops being profitable and they shut the servers down in 5 years he lost them anyway.

Wrong, you can transfer them into Home or LGPE and pass them down through the games.

If he has Pokemon Home, he could just transfer them over to that, assuming that Niantic gives everyone enough time to do so, considering the costs of moving Pokemon to Home.

So unlike other mobile games, GO has that going for it.

The response as a parent is to let the older brother delete any of the younger brother's save data of their choice. Younger kid needs to learn that that shit doesn't fly.

I assume they'd waive the wait requirement if the game was shutting down.

I definitely still hold resentment towards my sister for things she did when we were kids. Not because I'm still mad at her, but because she established herself early on as someone I can't trust and that feeling has followed us to adulthood. I'll never be close to my sister.

Pokmon go is definitely one of those things (and I still play)

My niece and nephews have saved over my data quite a few times. I just tell them to watch what they're doing and go on about my day

I probably just start over tho or move to a different game

My dad actually did that to me at 12 years old. Wiped my entire PS1 memory card with several near 100% Final Fantasy, Crash 3, Gran Turismo,..
He always claimed it was an accident, but IIRC there was no way to delete an entire card in the Memory Card Manager. You had to select each file individually.

Yeah. It's basically a super well disguised fitness app with how much walking you're gonna have to do, but even just 2 hours of raiding on Saturday and Sunday most weekends and doing full community day events will add up pretty fast.

This made me remember overwriting my older brothers Phantasy star online(dreamcast) savefile when I was little, I don't recall the exact hours he had but I vaguely remember maybe 1k+......but let's just say he took it out on me......HARD.

Our mother broke it up but he did cry afterward. Should probably apologize for that someday.
