My mom was a hoarder, and I am the complete opposite. I would rather have to buy something 3 or 4 times because I keep throwing/giving it away then keep it and never use it. Personality wise I am a lot like my dad, but I am a complete geek and and he is certainly the opposite of that. But my parents never really did. My father generally ignored the world as a whole and didn't complain about it specifically, and my mother was always way more of a naive optimist than a cynic. Whereas I've been a grumpy old man since I was 12. This. my entire life, I've seen my parents as precisely how I DON'T want to be "when I grow up". They've been a pretty incredible motivation as far as what not to do.
