They delivered it to the outside door of my apartment building.

Thankfully a neighbour brought it inside before it rained... and another neighbour brought it from inside to outside my apartment door... and another neighbour let me know "hey, there's a parcel at your door" on facebook.

that's like 4 points of entropy my shit coulda got jacked!

Does your city/area have an Amazon locker drop off zone thingy? I use that sometimes or my bestie lets me send things to his house since he lives in a gated community.

it does, and it's legit only like a block away.

But here's the thing... I was up all day. Amazon make no attempt to contact... but what if I wasn't up, or here, what if I was on vacation?

Get an Echo. Mine will light up with a yellow ring when a package has been delivered (or if there's a delivery exception).

"Alexa, play notifications."

"One new notification. From Amazon: your package has arrived"

I live in a house, not an apartment. But Amazon has literally never delivered anything to me in any way other than just throwing the package on my porch and not even bothering to ring the doorbell. The only way I ever know it's there is if I go look, or happen to check the order tracking on the web site and see that they say it was delivered.

But I wouldn't say that's just an Amazon issue - I don't think I've ever had any delivery from any service where they even bothered ringing my doorbell. Or even try to put it somewhere it won't get rained on if it's raining. Delivery people in general don't give a fuck.

I had one where they left it on the steps of my porch in the rain, when they literally could have taken one more step and put it on the porch under the roof and out of the rain.

Amazon a few times delivered my packages to other cities with the very same name. I had to have friends pick those up, luckily they delivered it to outlanders who knew me and carry back to my door. I put the zip code and the state, so I'm flabbergasted how they missed them. That's not including the beat up state sometimes... But most of the time they can do good.

In cases like that I prefer them to just give it to the USPS since my mailbox is a parcel locker.

Maybe you could get a job at amazon and teach them a thing or two about delivering packages.

I'm 99% sure you're Canadian. You can get a free PO Box through Canada Post, it's called Flex Delivery. In my town, it's at one of our Shoppers Drug Marts. When your parcel arrives, you get an email delivery notice letting you know. I just go in, show them the delivery notice, and they give me my package.

Most things on Amazon will ship to a Flex Delivery box, but some things won't. Amazon tells you before check out whether or not it'll deliver to that address. It seems to be random, but it works like 90% of the time.
