wtf is virtue signalling? I don't know if I've ever encountered the term anywhere other than gfaqs and maybe Twitter, and I've come to associate it with right wing cucks.

Anyway, I'm not eager to throw my life away, but I also - unlike you - recognize that being a cop brings a burden and an enormous responsibility.

As much as they can rationalize it away, it'll stay in the back of their minds. Even if they didn't fuck up, by the book and legally speaking, they'll always have that feeling that they did fuck up.

But that's a preferable reality for them to live with than if they hesitated and got themselves or one of their own killed.

Considering they went over and handcuffed what was essentially a clump of meat, I don't think they're losing too much sleep over it.

Even the cam of the guy who fired the least rounds by my count fired two after a delay into the clearly lifeless corpse. Im with Ving_Rhames, I dont think they fucking care at all.

They were willing to neutralize a man that, to their knowledge, was still carrying a weapon.

They didn't know he left his weapon in the vehicle til after the fact.

They didn't just head into a situation with an otherwise calm individual and decide "yeah we gonna kill him for no reason"

There was a logical series of events that culminated into their course of action.

You can believe that him turning around and seemingly motioning that he was drawing a weapon didn't warrant the overkill response of 90 shots at his general direction, that's fine.

But acting like the cops knew he was unarmed is disingenuous

Oh no, all I'm saying is that they aren't going to feel bad over the discovery that he was unarmed. Even if they reasonably believed he was armed, even if they all clearly saw him with a weapon in hand, the amount of times they fired was excessive.

Again, literal mass shooters don't get shot at as many times as this man did. None of these cops are going to have a guilty conscience.

Feels weird to be on the side of a bunch of people I have very negative tags for lol. Just goes to show how absolutely unreasonable some of these "posters" are. Deep cut alts and trolling seem to go hand in hand

More precincts and training grounds need to offer programs that help people see both sides.

I participated in one called Commissioner for a Day.

They threw our group into several scenarios with our weapons and challenged us to resolve things peacefully. In one, it was pitch black and all you heard was loud cursing and furniture being tossed. You had to neutralize the threat yet, keep the girlfriend safe.

The next was a robbery attempt. Two people had a weapons. You just arrived and didnt know who the perp was.

The last? Guy was determined to suicide by cop. Did everything he could to reach that inevitable conclusion.

Lots of armchair detectives in here could use something like this. Until you make an attempt to see it from both ends, your judgement will always be clouded.
