Like bro, thats not a grocery store, he continued in the clip. Im trying to get, like eggs, yogurt, cheese, st like that. Like, look at this place. He later stated: Like Ive literally been to like five of those now, and like, I dont know what the fuck Im about to do for dinner. Like where are the Krogers and the Whole Foods at? One person promptly shared the clip to Twitter, where it quickly went viral, with Green earning the moniker Bodega Bro. The clip attracted widespread attention, with some saying Green was exuding white privilege with his insensitive remarks about the Bronx a majority minority borough of the city. Im sure this bro thought he was being funny, but did anyone else view this as racist? Or just me? blogger Perez Hilton wrote. TikTok star Dutch De Carvalho also slammed Green, saying: I mean, what, hes been here like two days? And hes found a way to make fun of the stores that many people in the community rely on. In another clip, he allegedly remarked on how many gay people resided in New York, questioning whether being gay is just a thing now. Social media sleuths uncovered an older TikTok video made by Green in which he showed off a confidential offer-of-employment letter and announced he was moving to New York City. The letter revealed he worked at Outreach, and one person tweeted the tech firm to alert them to Greens viral bodega video. I dont think its very flattering to have this type of person representing your company, they wrote from a private account. I would revalue his employment if I were you. If you folks have never been to a rural area for any amount of time then you probably wouldn't grasp why this is such a high level of culture shock. I live in the 8th or 9th largest city in my state and even here the concept of a "walkable neighborhood" is unheard of. Nearest store that isn't a gas station is a Wal Mart about 5 miles away, with a Publix and Food City about a mile farther than that. I couldn't imagine the shock of going from driving to the store twice a month to pick up a couple hundred bucks in groceries to being within walking distance of somewhere that I should be buying 1-2 days worth of stuff at a time. That and public transportation are the two aspects of urban life I have the most trouble wrapping my head around --- If it was about babies we'd have universal maternal care.
