Of course, you have the thirty year cycle of nostalgia and everything. Honestly, up to this point, I've been fucking hard with the disco revival - Dua Lipa's most recent singles have fucked hard. It's a shame that people butchered actual classic 70's songs, put them to weak and monotonous club beats and left verses of the songs out/only played the first verse over and over again.

It's like people were trying to follow PNAU and Dua Lipa's Cold Cold Heart remix without understanding what that remix even was. They took three Elton John songs and made a single, danceable medley. They didn't just gut one of Elton John's songs and loop the first verse over an embellished retread of the song's melody - Sacrifice is a very soft and tender song, not the funky club banger Cold Cold Heart is. It's a creative song. Shit, they gutted Rasputin at the start of January and they've gutted September by Earth Wind and Fire at the end of June - they keep repeating the blaring horn opening like four or five times.

But when the disco-tinged pop hits were rolling, they were fucking rolling. And now we're seeing a house revival, which I think was something of a disco revival or had disco roots in the first place, which falls more neatly into the 30 year cycle of nostalgia than disco - being 50 years old this decade.

I dunno. The pop landscape is looking pretty cool right about now.
