What amount?

Wondering where others stand.

Having survived on tips when I was younger, its important to me to do so. Usually 20% to servers, if they are not assholes. If they are, Ill reduce accordingly. I also make damn sure to tip people well who handle my bags or drive me in shuttles or cabs.

This shit where people expect tips for things like checking your ID has got to go, though. Fuck the karma jar.

I don't have a set amount or %. I just give what I feel is appropriate.

Last night I ordered pizza and wings and the total was $38.68. I gave the delivery guy $45

I don't tip. There's a reason though. I live in Canada where servers make a working wage, and I can't afford to go to fancy restaurants, so I'm sure as hell not tipping the drive-thru guy at Mcdonalds 10 percent for taking my order.

Depends on if I can do the job myself, I tip my doctor a lot more than I tip the delivery guy

That's the 6th option in the poll then. Easy.

I don't use the percentage system. I always tip $5 minimum and then add dollars based on how I'm feeling and how well they did. I always double check the percentage and most of the time I'm over 20%.

20% rounded to the next dollar up. Unless it's like 6.01 or something then I'd probably just do 6. >_>

10% on carryout, 20+% on servers, and 20% or at least 5 flat for delivery drivers. maybe have to increase that with gas prices lately, though I rarely order delivery anyway.

If Domino's has taught me anything it's that I only need to tip the delivery driver $3

I kid, I kid...

...although I wouldn't be surprised if that promotion did actually lead to a significant portion of delivery customers tipping less

Take out - if amount due is xx.25 or less, then round up to the nearest dollar. If over xx.25, $1 + change. So basically $.75-1.74 tip on take out.

Delivery - $5 minimum, figure that's good for 3 miles. $1/mile above that. And round up to nearest dollar.

Dine in restaurant - 20%, not counting tax, round up to nearest dollar so long as service was satisfactory. If it's a place I am a semi-regular at and it was anomalously bad, tell manager but still leave full tip. If its a place I'm never returning and service was bad, as little as $.10 and maybe a note why the service was poor.
