how far standards have dropped since then even then that was bullshit he was just high off the crowd and it was a killer. Nowadays you can attack reporters, do the nazi salute, openly praise hilter, call for trail by combat, call for the deaths of your political rivals and still win elected office

Passion is an unforgivable offense in Democratic politics.

Of course, although the Democrats managed to to win massive majorities in a short time, they were aided massively by back-to-back wave elections in 06 and 08 driven by anti-Bush backlash and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression respectively, and those majorities ultimately proved largely incapable of getting much done. And they proved ephemeral.
