That you either open by scanning something with your phone or calling on an assistant.

I thought we were past this shit? (...he says as he looks at the insanity of last Friday)

Encountered an awkward conversation where a young woman called on the assistant, a young male, to open up the case so she could get a pregnancy test. He proceeds to make her feel uncomfortable and ends the convo with a '...um...well...good luck!'.

It's a terrible situation for the woman, but it's not the kid's fault for not knowing how to manage it.

Ignorance is not malice.

Kroger? Honestly, I don't think I have seen any in about a decade. In rougher neighborhoods, maybe. This wasn't one of those though.

And I mean I'm not blaming the kid for anything at all. (And I feel like he's actually like 26) But I feel neither should be put in that situation.

At Walmart you can tell alot about the surrounding area based on how much is locked up. There's one Walmart about 20 miles away that even locks up socks and underwear. Yikes.

I'll use this quote to reply to similar. And no, I totally get it locking stuff up in certain stores in certain areas. I mean look at the shit that was happening in San Fran.

For context, this is a major grocery store in one of the richest neighborhoods in the area, so I assume it's just going across them all. But the thing threw me is that the only stuff locked up was sexual health stuff. Nothing else. Not razor blades, high-priced meds, etc.

She shouldve just bought some from Dollar Tree. Yeah, they have pregnancy tests. They just are the strips and dont have the big plastic shelling that the drugstore ones have. Work just as well and saves tons of money plus less plastic garbage for the environment.

Yeah, it sucks how much shit has to be locked up in stores these days.

As an aside, I work at a Smith's and it's insane that literally every single day I catch a customer stealing a markdown sticker to put on something else. Every. Single. Day.

You serious? And give him another chance to be awkward around a woman in an already awkward situation? Nothing less than the death penalty will make me feel safe again. That could of been my niece that he was slightly awkward to.

Isn't this just due to stealing?

Abortion is common here in the UK and condoms are still locked behind cases at the big supermarkets.

Or put in one of those box things the staff have to open for you when you buy it.

Sexual wellness items aren't even in the top 10 of most shoplifted items. Is that because they are locked up in some stores? Not sure.

Alcohol, OTC meds, razors, deodorant, baby formula, etc. are more frequently shoplifted and aren't locked up (generally that is). Just as expensive as sexual wellness items too, so I just find it weird.

We generally had done away with them in this city outside of worse neighborhoods. This definitely caught my eye because it is technology driven and obviously very new, but Kroger is always experimenting with that kind of shit. Just like the machine they installed to sanitize your cart.
