Coincidental or not?

coincidental. freakanomics did have an interesting story that correlates it with crime tho.

Baby boomers were born coinciding the largest global population increase in history, and it was following all the improved financial gains made available to them as a result of their parents and grandparents fighting to ensure fair labor practices and good pay.

Guess what boomers did about 10-15 years after they reached adulthood? Scrapped those protections to further benefit themselves while denying future generations those healthy financial conditions that allowed them to raise a family, buy a house and car, and more all with the pay check from a single parent.

As younger generations lacked the financial security, many have been less likely to seek to have kids as it would financially ruin many of them who are already struggling even with the combined finances of them and their partner.

Its the only reason they reversed it. It has nothing to do with religion, they need to print more babies into indentured servitude.

No I'm pretty sure religion has a big part of it as well, but it's only used as a scapegoat. It's easier to say some BS like "God says all life is sacred" as opposed to "need more future taxpayers!".

I don't think the population of the United States has ever declined. You talking about the birth rate?

Fun fact, a large portion of our population growth has always been dependent on immigration.

Yeah, people are not procreating mostly due to how gloomy the economy is for most of the younger generations. Hell we are in a comfortable position and were sticking only with 1 kids.

Google 'us birth rate'.

It declined dramatically in the 60s. And dramatically again in just the first 3 years of the 70s. By comparison it hasn't gone down THAT much more since 1973.

We experienced near population decline for the first time ever in 2021. Tbh, its most likely we experienced a decline and they doctored up the stats.
