I feel some, who had conservative beliefs, have now started to reflect on their identity as a Republican, and feel that the republicans in the room are the bad guys. It starts to make you question if you're on the side of the bad guys and if your beliefs inherently are flawed. I used to wonder how people could totally 180 from their past political beliefs without it being because they went crazy, but now I see the process that makes it happen. It also has to do with being exposed to many different types of people on the internet. As someone who speedran Super Mario Odyssey, and loves the speedrunning community, you find it's a haven for those society rejected, those who were different. Naturally, many LGBT+ members will be a part of it. You can't love the community and hate its people at the same time.
