Same could pretty much be said about eating fast food. Except the douchebag thing which is don't personally think the government should be deciding things based on that lol

Let's not compare fast food to smoking, it's literally apples to oranges.

They're actually not banning the vapes currently on the market that are flavored like candy or fruit. Those vapes that look like whippets aren't being banned for instance.

Also, weed vapes are almost just as easy to get ahold of for teens in legal states. They have names after strains like "skittlez" and "runtz" lol Not saying weed vapes are just as bad as regular vapes (though black market ones are arguably worse apparently), just seems like a really bad excuse for a dumb decision.

I think the difference is that Juuls specifically had marketing that was catered towards highschoolers and not just it's flavor. I used flavors as one of the reasons because supposedly that was the thing that most of the highschoolers that were interviewed. I do think it's idiotic that they're only targeting one brand though, they should be hitting the rest if it's really that big of a deal.

Saying that those advertisements were marketed to people under 18 as opposed to over 18 is a huge stretch.

Somebodys making some money off of this. Its completely illogical, even by FDA standards.

Fast food negatively effects children more than vaping does. If we're gonna cry "think about the children!" over this shit I think fast food is also fair game.

Marketing on children sites is fucking idiotic, but this should lead to a change in marketing laws instead of banning Juuls.

Youth tobacco use is going up reversing a longstanding trend thanks to crap like this.

Is that true or is that only including vape products as "tobacco"?

Vapes should be a very beneficial thing, publix healthwise. Attracting kids would would otherwise be smoking cigarettes, and helping people who smoke cigarettes kick the habit by replacing it with a healthier alternative and then tapering off. Like, it's no different than the patch, but includes the behavioral aspect as well.

Were they the ones trying to get some countries to ban cigarettes but keep vapes legal cause they had a massive lead in that market compared to their competitors?

It was a while back, but I read articles that Juuls would had online ads on websites with a lot traffic from users who were 18 and under. I don't know if they are still doing this or not, but even I can understand how scummy that can be.

But yeah no doubt someone is making big money off of this, especially when they're only targeting a specific brand.

It's two completely separate things. You need food and water to survive, you don't need smoking. It should really be it's own argument, granted marketing towards kids should heavily be monitored seeing as how predatory it can get.

They're not really all that different here. Fast food definitely advertises to children, and plenty of them pretend as if their food is healthy or healthier. Fast food really isn't a necessity, especially now with how expensive it has become.

Also I don't think whether or not something is a necessity really matters all that much here. Alcohol isn't a necessity yet we have candy or fruit flavored alcohol that tastes like juice.

Imo "the children" excuse is just a bad one especially when we don't care about the children when it comes to all of these other harmful things.

This is what I'm talking about comparing apples to oranges. You're entering "what aboutism", the same kind of tactic the Republicans/Conservatives use like with the Jan 6 hearings "What about BLM violent protests where they vandalize and burn down businesses, they're not being investigated!". We're talking about one issue at a time, with that kind of logic almost any issue will be dismissed because it won't hold up to scrutiny from a separate issue. It should be it's own thing. The main thing I can totally agree with you is the marketing to children, which can be very predatory especially when they're impressionable. Also it is true that fast food has gotten more expensive, but they're still fast to make which saves a lot of time for many lower households to do their other responsibilities, but that is a separate thing all together. COVxy brings up an interesting argument about E-Cigs/Vaping being a net positive because kids who would get hooked onto cigarettes now have a "healthier" alternative.

I'd imagine it depends on what wattage you use and also what kind of coils you use. I use a smok RPM2 and their 0.16 ohm mesh coils last me about a 1.5-2 months each at 25W. A 5 pack costs like $15 and lasts me most of the year, it's a negligible cost.

I used to have a smok nord but those things kept leaking easily so I had to replace the device like 3 times and those coils burned up quick. I also used salt nic instead of juice back when I used it, probably accounted for some of the quick burn as well. The RPM2 has been a far better experience, I've had this device for over a year now and it's still going strong. A bottle of juice lasts me like a month now as well.

Juul punched themselves in the dick with all their early advertising campaigns that we very obviously targeting teenagers. It basically incinerated any goodwill in the company. So yeah, does having flavored Juuls inherently mean they are targeting kids? Probably not anymore than flavored booze. But Juul doesn't get to make that argument anymore because they have already been caught pretty flagrantly targeting kids.

Yeah salts definitely burn the coils quicker. I vape instead of smoke so I use salt nics. I get about 2 weeks out of my coil in my VooPoo Drag S.

They're the most popular. I used to buy Blu stuff, and some stores didn't even carry it/know what it was even though it's a massive brand too. Juul is the Kleenex of vapes.
