Asking questions is like one of the biggest fucking thing you can do as a consumer and when it comes to retail if you are smart enough about it asking if the box you are holding is for the last copy and if you cam get a discount for it based on the condition of the box goes a long way.

Its like most people that bitch about this never seen Big Daddy where they are throwing canned food on the floor to damage it for a cheaper price.

There is a world of difference between bargaining with a cashier versus making a case and asking questions to try to game the system.

Like as example if I am buying say a toy for a kid for their birthday and its the only one but the box is beat to all hell like it was crush by accident. In a lot of cases if you are not a complete dick about it and dont mind waiting you can generally get the price marked down by something based on the fact that its a gift that is not in a good sellable condition. Most retail managers would simply apply whatever discount they think.

its not that hard since again based on the condition of said box as a gift they might just eat whatever loss there is in order to satisfy the guest (which in theory means return shoppers) and get rid of something that would have gone to clearance at some point for being a crushed box.

GameStop doesn't offer discounts and the employees and even manager don't have the authority to do that. Gutted stuff is officially part of their policy, so to them nothing is wrong.

Damaged stuff are automatically marked down nowadays as open box or have it stipulated as allowed. Each store has an entire program about from BB Open-Box to Amazon Warehouse.

And I do know how things work. Just breaking a seal is not enough for a product to suddenly be used. The biggest problem that this creates with games is that unknown factor which is something that should be changed but its a rather costly sort of change if you consider alternative to it.

I know of three used game stores near me that are far better then GameStop.

It's actually better now because you can use the monthly coupon to buy credit on the Gamestop website/app (the $10 PSN card worked the last 3 months for me at least). Before, you had to go in-store to use the coupon for digital currency.
