GameStop has incredible value especially for pro card members. For a 15 dollar investment in pro membership, you get five bucks off one purchase every month.

You can literally get $120 Xbox or Playstation store credit for $75. How? 15 for the pro membership and then 60 dollars (10 dollar Xbox/PSN cards which will only be $5 because of your five dollar off coupon X 12 months = 120 bucks credit at 75 USD.

Haven't been to one in years. I did love their bargain bins where they'd just put a shitload of old games in sleeves and dump them in a giant bucket thing. You could find gold in there for super cheap.

Last time I went inside one, I think the dude behind the counter thought that the person he was ringing out at the counter was the only other person in the store. When that customer left, the employee let out this rafter-shattering fart, followed by loudly exclaiming Jesus! I seriously think the dude crapped himself in the process.

I walked out before the stench could get to me.

And unless you're near their piece of shit stores every month, that $5 off quickly becomes a waste since you have to go down to their cesspool to buy the cards.

I got a pro membership last year when I traded in my PS4. Gamestop online ordering has been pretty bad for me in that time. Nearly half the games I've ordered were either them sending the wrong game, missing entirely, or a used game sold as new, lol.

Ended up buying the games on bestbuy instead, and payed less anyway.

That definitely seems like a store-specific issue. Every one I've been to I could just ask them if they had a game and they'd look it up on their computer, and tell me any other stores that would have it if they didn't.

The only bad experience I had with a GameStop was literally like two decades ago where I wanted a Zelda Collector's Edition disc, was reassured that it was tested to see if it worked, then brought it home and found out half the games didn't work and just froze the console.

I like getting my shoes shined while testing each game the attendant brings me.

Also the whole argument I would say while there should be ways of getting around opening copies an opened copy doesnt indicate being a used copy which creates issues as well. And opening a sealed copy in front of them they would more likely deny the return on the grounds of you being a dick about it.

Not how that works. The only big reason why a seal matters so much in cases is that bit of unknown unknown. And its really a bigger deal for retail is because they literally cannot sell it again as brand new.

Thats not to say there shouldnt be a better solution to Gamestop opening them for display purposes. But I think the biggest problem is people underestimate the solutions in these cases outside glass cases. And speaking as a retail worker of the past having glass cases slows everything down.

If you receive a game that is not factory sealed, it is not in new condition. New means unopened.

How you come off is entitled. I mean one thing I never get about people and retail is they in general will bitch and moan about things like this and yet not work the system in their favor. Because lets be real the employees probably dont like having to open copies on new games either because they know regardless of the condition of the game itself having never been played you get the whole its bot seal its used! point. The whole factory seal things for products are mainly because retail chains take a hit if someone just uses something to return it for full value.

However you pointed out that Best Buy gives discounts for it, maybe just maybe loom at the cases and ask if its the last one if there is a discount you can get if the case is damaged? Its not a hard thing to ask and if they cant then oh well you dont have to buy that copy.

Its relevant to the point if you are arguing selling the game as new. Unless you are a retailer yourself then you damn well k ow you can only sell a new copy on the second hand market.

Secondly that would be for return policies as the key thing and in Gamestop case they are a complete different type of store that can do this because how they are designed. Other retail chains are bigger in size and scale so even if they have them in clam shell security boxes it is still a matter of there being more security and probably a bit more wiggle room when shit gets stolen.

Giving something reason for being and still pointing out its flawed isnt making an excuse here. Its pointing out facts a seal being broken doesnt mean something is used period. That comes from being USED. But also as you and others can see is that yes it creates an issue of trust which is a problem that needs to stop. It is by all means a shitty practice but one where you can konda see why it is and what potentially can be fixed about it.

I don't care if it's actually used or still new, especially when I said nothing about it being used. I have no way of knowing that once it's opened and the factory seal ensures it hasn't been used or tampered with, just like companies use ir to ensure the same in return.
