I was ready to be hypercritical of it too being as it was my favorite piece of media as a young child

i didn't like it tbh. it's all there stylistic and artistically, but the gameplay's too shallow after other beat em ups

Probably my favorite beat 'em up of all time. I never played any of the old turtle games (mostly played SoR and Golden Axe and some modern ones) but this one is really just too good. If it gets a roguelike mode like SoR4 it'll be hands down my favorite.

Sor4 has a rouge like mode? I played through it maybe the first month it came out, I will have to look into that

Yeah, the roguelike mode came out as DLC. It's an endless mode that gets progressively harder and lets you choose random upgrades as you beat stages.

It helps solve the main problem with beat em ups, that once you beat them all there really is to do is go back through the same stages.

XXXX, X and up to hit them up. your special attack. a couple running attacks. i played two levels and just didn't really feel anything

For real though, the amount of attacks isn't huge but everything feels really impactful.
