Just so much filler where nothing important is happening.

Oh a tired trope about a school bully? How original. Don't get too invested though cause once El does something about it they're just like "nevermind don't worry about that anymore" then never mention it again.

Oh you like El? Well she spends most of this season in a bathtub just thinking about made up scenarios.

Literally everything with Joyce going to Russia, and the silly Russian pilot, is a waste of time. They could have written her out of the show and nothing would have been lost.

Same for Hopper his story is pointless. He is in prison. Then he escapes. Then he is in another prison.

Susie has a wacky family for some reason?!?!?! Who gives a fuck.

Then the last episode is 1 hour 45 minutes long because they let 001 tell a 30 minute long monologue that isn't even interesting.

The stuff in Hawkins was the only moderately entertaining stuff.

Ive been saying since season 2 that they clearly have been trying to write this show based on the hype, and you can tell that passion and charm from the first season is a high theyre trying to chase.

Ends up feeling so forced and hollow.

I haven't seen season 4 yet but I've watched the max and vecna scene lole 8 times

Never heard the song running up the hill before but I loved it

I think its popularity was its downfall. Too many fans with affection for different characters. Can't really let any of the OG characters go, so they have to write in a way that keeps them all around. Which kind of kills any tense moments since as a viewer you know they're going to be okay.

Havent seen S4 yet, but it clearly went downhill after S1. Giant minced meat monster, seriously?! Not sure Im gonna even bother with S4

I'm on the 5th episode or somthing and yeah, I noticed there are too many sub plots.
none of them are necessarily bad, but they are spread too thin.

Honestly my favorite season so far.

Nothing has really felt like filler to me. I guess if you only care about the big bad, anything not the big bad is filler.

i enjoyed it as well.

really the only complaint i have is related to the Mike, Will, Jonathan and Argyle storyline. altho i did have some laughs here and there, they didnt do much with it but i suppose that's saved for part 2...

I don't really see how it's filler. It sounds like you never liked the show to begin with though.

The only thing that genuinely bothers me about S4 is that they finally did what I'd been hoping they wouldn't, which was to bring back Matthew Modine's character without explanation. I realize that the 'they ain't dead until you see the body' trope is alive and well in this show - for instance, it was obvious during Victor Creel's interview that his son was still alive and would have a bigger role to play, even though said bigger role wasn't obvious at the time - but still, you don't just walk off a mauling from the Demogorgon with nothing more than a facial scar to show for it. Maybe they'll end giving a better explanation for this at a later time, but until then I'm fairly sour over it.

Other than that, I quite enjoyed S4 so far. It's had plenty of enjoyable and genuinely tense moments, and the other flaws are easy enough to overlook.

It's pretty obvious at this point. In S3 you could maybe write Will's attitude off as asexual and simply lamenting the childhood he lost, but they're pounding the subtext with a hammer in S4.

It's mainly because nancy and Steve are both way more popular than Johnathan and honestly Johnathan always felt more like Nancy's sidekick where as Steve feels like he is on more equal footing with nancy

Also, it's reasonable to believe that it's not just the audience who's noticed the mountain of character growth Steve's gone through since Nancy dumped him. I don't mind / kinda like the Nancy / Steve subplot resurgence because, for once, it doesn't feel forced - he's genuinely a much better person than he used to be. The problem I do have with it is that it's symptomatic of the writers not knowing what to do with Jonathan anymore, and further leaving him out to dry.

I've only seen 5 episodes and I'm a bit confused. Couldn't her "brother" (I forget his name, I really don't care) have told her that she misunderstood the assignment? She'd still get bullied but it seemed kinda shitty to not correct her and help her, they're in the same class.

The drama in the roller rink could have been avoided if El didn't lie to her BF and I still don't understand why she even did that. Wasn't "friends don't lie" a thing for her/them?

Runner up is probably Hopper. Most of the kids are pretty much the same.

Also in S4, Jonathan and Will could have all been replaced by two wooden boards and I don't think anyone would have noticed a difference.

Seasons 2 and 3 were pretty awful, but I really enjoyed Season 4.

It was really good. Y'all need to rewatch season 1 bc it wasn't all that. Very impressive performances from a young cast but the story is much more interesting now.

I like it.

Season 4 is the best it's been since season 1.

Only season that's truly pretty bad is 2.

This. They're basically filler characters at this point. I wouldn't even care if they were killed off tbh. I had hopes for Will. I thought he would have a stronger connection to the upside down and maybe get some sort of power due to the long exposure that he had, but nope. He's just... there.

Don't know what you're on about TC. This season has been fantastic. And it's all starting to come together at the end. Can't wait for the last 2 episodes in a few weeks.

Honestly I feel like (spoilers!) The rekindling romance between Nancy and Steve is a death flag. Like they always kill off a character at the end of the season and romance is often used as a death flag in media. Something like "After this battle with Vecna is over, I want to talk to you about something" but then he dies before they can talk.

Maybe it's nancy who will get killed off
Or maybe robin

But that sounds rather stuffed In the fridge like and bury your gays like which are tropes meant with frequent criticism

Eh I'm unconvinced. If Will (thanks for reminding me of his name) popped into her room at least once, he'd have noticed her diorama. I'd imagine that he'd correct her to avoid any sort of humiliation.

Yeah they clearly do but El seems to be the one that gets most upset when she us lied to I'd like to think that she wouldn't do something that she doesn't like done to her. And again I still don't know why she did that, I don't think they gave any explanation at all. I guess she wanted to show how well she'd been adapting? But she could have shown that any other way.

I'm hoping that Will will be important when it comes to dealing with Vecna in the last two episodes.

But yeah, he's been mostly useless this season. But then, so has basically all the California gang.

There are also waaay too many characters now. Time to kill some of those kids off. Half add zero value.

I think they will lose this season. And season 5 will be them striking back at the Mind Flayer and Vecna.

I like the season so far (I'm on ep 6) but man, every scene with Eleven is fucking awful. Everything about her character (Will and Mike too) is shit. Also, the high Pizza guy is funny in small amounts but when he becomes a part of the crew he's fucking insufferable.

Yeah, Eleven is probably my least favorite character. All of her scenes in this season are boring as hell, and the only good part of her arc was when she bashed that chick in the face with the ice skate in episode 2 or 3.

The writing in season 3 was worse than the previous two seasons. Season 4's story is genuinely awful.

It's never been a good show, it's always just been member berries.

Just finished it. The best parts so far have been the group in Hawkins. The Eleven stuff really brings the show to a halt. The Russia stuff is too drawn out. They didn't even show the California kids in the last episode lmao But the Hawkins stuff is really good.

The 001 stuff could have been done way better. "My parents did awful things!" Okay maybe your dad did but your mom didn't do shit bro and neither did your sister. Just a really unlikable villain.

How could he balance his friends skipping his big game, his gf leaving him, and trying to become popular without losing who he really was.
