It is strange that all those games (+ Soul Hackers 2) are skipping the Switch.

Yet, it got P5 Strikers of all things.

Did Miyamoto punch someone at Persona Team in the face or something?

Its like they are deliberately spiting Nintendo. Actively avoiding putting persona 5 on Switch(Its literally on PS3. Switch can run it)

Also Soul Hackers 2 not being on Switch definitely tanks the hell out of its japanese sales.

After Kingdom Hearts Cloud Version I doubt it. But then again the switch can run Witcher 3 and doom 2016 natively so maybe

But its all the audio and music and voice acting, theyd have to gut something to make it work on a cart I think.

Only as far as the gameplay goes.

SMT4 has a better story and characters, though they're still not great. (Which say more about SMT5's story/characters than anything.)

SMT4's characters are actually quite poorly written. Jon is introduced with him siding with you, a commoner, over his bully upper caste colleagues, and he repeatedly shows a distaste with the social order's inequality. Walter meanwhile, is introduced as a proud rural caste member who is unphased by class differences and actually prefers his own standing, commonly mocking the urbanites for their squeamishness or unfitness. But then Jon becomes Law and Walter becomes Chaos. All their characterization up to the split indicates they'd pick oppositely. And after the split the game gets weird, and the alignment system is AWFUL (you have to choose the opposite of how you've purportedly been playing throughout the game just to get Neutral; it thinks Neutral = confused/indecisive but also makes that the voice of reason).

Though, I see how you can prefer that to SMTV effectively having no characters at all.

I think you're taking this all way too seriously. Like this MUST be some sort of slight, it's IMPOSSIBLE unless there's bad blood - when the reality of it probably comes down to budget and effort on Atlus' part.

Like they're gonna port the Persona games to Xbox, presumably after Microsoft paid them the big bucks to make the ports in the first place. That's what Microsoft have been doing for the past couple years, paying big money for Game Pass content. It wouldn't surprise me if Atlus/Sega refused to port the games without a sizable investment from Microsoft.

Nintendo doesn't have Microsoft money - they're doing fine, great even, but they aren't a megacorp to the same tune as Microsoft. They also have weaker hardware than the competition, hardware that requires specialised development due to being on a chip which has more in common with phone and tablet architecture than it does with PC architecture. Sony and Microsoft are closer to PC hardware, and so this is an easier sell for those games.

You're looking at a sizable upfront transaction for the games to come to the console, and then you're looking at the time and money it takes to develop these ports. Microsoft clearly has a leg up over Nintendo in this case. It's business.

That being said - all three games are coming to consoles and PC with this announcement, and I imagine Microsoft didn't buy exclusive publishing rights to the games. I'd bet they're timed exclusives, and if the games do well on Xbox/PC and there's sufficient demand for it, the games could make their way to the Switch once they've been ported to these other consoles. One of these games is a PSP game leaving that hardware for the first time. Another is a Vita game with a PC port. Once they've been adapted for console play, it will be a much easier sell to port them to the Switch, especially considering the Switch's market share in Japan and other regions where handhelds make up a sizable chunk of the gaming population.

That depends on the exclusivity agreement between Atlus/Sega and Xbox, but I think that's the way it is. Again - it's business. Gaming has always been a business ruled by money. The fact that Atlus has a strong stable of games on Nintendo platforms, including the last two mainline Shin Megami Tensei games, a Fire Emblem/Persona spinoff and Persona 5 Strikers, shows that there's a fairly positive, relatively recent and mutually reciprocal business relationship between Atlus and Nintendo. My guess would be that money talks, and that Microsoft - by virtue of the absolutely stupid sums of money they're dropping to buy game devs and industry-wide publishers - is in a better position to secure a deal like this than Nintendo is.

So long story short, there's really no reason for you to be taking this personally. It's business.

I almost feel like the Switch port of P5S was done out of some sort of contractual obligation at this point.

I remember during Banjo's reveal, he literally said something like "if you want to see Banjo's past adventures you can only play it on Xbox". Nintendo lets Sakurai say whatever the fuck he wants. It's wild >_>
