Theyre not as intelligent as they think they are.

Marketing people love them.

Nothing, I just laugh because I know some overly literal person is going to call them on it, as if the statement had any real significance.

I think they're probably not very self aware, the marketing people have it down to a science and it can be pretty subtle. They even have degrees in this shit, I can guarantee that they can "get to" even the most proud and cocky redditor who is totally too smart for it.

I'm suppose to feel a certain way about them?

I think they probably don't mean it in such absolute terms.

I think there's a lot of marketing out there that is designed to appeal to a common consumer, which frankly doesn't work on me because a lot of the stuff I enjoy doesn't have mass market appeal.

But there are absolutely types of marketing that do work on me and I can sometimes feel it in action lol

Not a lot and marketing didn't make me buy them

I dont watch commercials on tv i will flip the station

I rip out ads in magazines and books

I change the station on the radio when a commercial comes on

I have adblock for the internet.

I will no longer buy any sports jerseys since logos are now a thing. Whatever i have in the closet is what i will die with.

If i am interested in your product i will buy it. I dont need you to tell me what to buy.

If anything, advertisements often make me LESS likely to buy (watch, or whatever it is), and that goes especially if the advertisements are loud and obnoxious. The more loud and annoying, the more negatively I feel.

It's too broad a term
Most marketing doesn't work on most people
You won't see the millions of people aged 50+ downloading and using tiktok
you won't see millions of kids interested in the latest documentary about the 1970s

it depends on who you're marketing it to

They're dumb, plain and simple.

I wear self crafted leather clothes that will last me the rest of my life. Survive on a diet of mostly small game that I catch with just my hands, and cut my hair with my skinning knife. In my downtime i play Raid: Shadow Legends. I'm completely off the grid and immune to marketing.

For me i only fall for marketing related to headphones and iems. By marketing i mean goddamn reviewers.

I mean, I buy the most esoteric shit and kinda go out of my way to avoid the big brand names (especially in electronics >_>)

I mean, everyone knows the tricks of product placement at this point. Yet it still continues. Probably because despite everything, it still works. >_>

The only products I actually bought solely for the marketing was Old Spice. Their commercials are fantastic.
