This. Of course Edelstans are grasping at straws to try and make her seem justified when that's still not the case. Also Three Hopes is a "what if" story and most of it's events are technically non canon to Three Houses because some of Three Houses events don't come to pass or play out differently. It creates a alternative timeline.

Three Houses Edelgard doesn't get to make that claim.

The moral of the story is that Byleth is the worst and their interaction with other characters directly makes everything worse.

All of the rulers are awful, in all honesty. Claude is the only one who had anything resembling a shred of competency for actually leading a nation, but his personality is a detriment to that.

Edelgard has the dangerous mix of a lack of morals and self righteousness and Dimitri is a tire fire.

Yup, devs literally said they made Blue Lions' story first. Even Golden Deer take down the true villains of the story despite their leader having the least personal stakes in the main conflict. Black Eagles is for edgelords who are pro facist bigot, anti religion who also brought into Edelgard's propaganda like she bought into TWSitD's.

Yup, they somehow fucked up Byleth's origin story and didn't even have his/her dad actively be a part of it. Cindered Shadows' story was mostly shit. Three Houses was a pretty great game, but it's Expansion Pass DLC was mostly god awful.

I don't give a shit that the story in Cindered Shadows was shit, I loved the gameplay created through limiting characters to a few specific classes and abilities. It was a lot more engaging than the "anyone can be anything" gimmick of the main game.

Nah she is. She forces a bloody war upon Fodlan partially out of patriotic pride because her ancestors used to rule it and says she wants to be rid of the Crest system to establish a meritocracy, but if she succeeds she kills all who she disagrees or who could be problem to her reign, those who she doesn't kill need to her permission to establish and practice any sort of religion or culture and she puts all of her cronies in places of power. Regardless if Edelgard steps down she still has her cronies to carry on the systems she wants in place, is still ruining Fodlan with the war and making others suffer and die for her misguided spite and pride which is more than enough to make her a villain and in the wrong.

Yeah Cindered Shadows was a breath of fresh air gameplay wise and gave us best girl Constance.

Excuse you. I said series. And yes, Byleth is just half-assed nonsense. Let's give the player an avatar like the last two games, except let's remove any customability from them. Also let's make them an effectively mute character, but have every character fawn over them like they are the greatest person ever. And yes they tried to lore away Byleth's nothingness, but explaining why they suck doesn't make them not suck.

Either give me a customized mute avatars where my choices matter or give my a fully realized character (that actually uses the voice actors they have hired for that character). Don't railroad me into playing this blob of nothing.

That would take away the fun and importance of there being three-ish routes. With there not being a canon route, every route has something important to say and to add to the setting of the game. I hate when games have a "true ending" a lot of times because it just makes the other ones pointless what ifs

A game with three distinct stories shouldn't have one be more "real" than the other

Nationalistic pride isn't exclusive to fascists, tons of authoritarians use it. As for the part I bolded, I'm not sure where you get that. The Black Eagles ending is about 1 minute long and it mentions nothing of that. The ending only really establishes that The Empire won, Those who Slither in the Dark eventually get wiped out, and Edelgard is somehow ruling while destroying the crest system. This a weird contradictory system similar to how Napoleon established a bunch of legal rights for the common people yet still proclaimed himself Emperor.

Also, the ending picture is essentially Edelgard copying Napoleon in one of the more famous paintings on him.
