By The Way, I Forgive You is a masterpiece. Songs like Sugartooth and Fulton Country Jane are incredible for their compassion and sadness, as are most of the songs on that album. Most of All has had me sobbing at the thought of my parents dying. It's a Grammy Award winning album for a reason, and the Grammies are rigged as shit - it's just a solid 10/10 country album, coming from someone who hates bro-country.

The Mother is a better parenthood song than With Arms Wide Open. The Joke is more.of a statement, but it's incredibly powerful. This entire album holds up. It's a masterpiece.

In These Silent Days is following a behemoth of a record. I've heard it's more of a glitzy arena affair, and the first song definitely feels like that. I don't expect to like it as much, but I hope this new album is pretty good.

Okay, so full disclosure I'm drunk and fairly malleable. I hold the previous album in very high regard.

First Song, not so good. It's fine, but it's weak.

Second song through to fourth song: really good. I don't wanna say if it's better or worse. Either way it's legitimately really good.

This album is very raw and I feel like it comes from a place of truth. But I don't think it has the universality of the previous album

I think I figured it out.

By the Way I Forgive You is an emotional rollercoaster. It's rooted squarely in Nashville. This new album is trying to have more of a broad reach, and it is more of a broad appeal, but it doesn't have the same appeal as the previous album because it was tuned into a more specific frequency.

This new album isn't terrible, but going forward? It's not gonna reinvent the wheel, and By the Way, I Forgive You is the wheel.

I cannot make it through her second album as she is writing from a place where I really cannot relate.

Maybe so. I don't think I should comment over that, though I do think that Brandi's music makes a very egalitarian point.
