Like whenever they want to depict a character as being smart or having a bright future it's shown that they can get into law school.

Is being a lawyer like disproportionately successful in the USA, or is it just a simple TV thing that everyone can relate to as being hard?

Idk, but as my social circle has become richer and richer, a higher and higher percentage of my acquaintances have gone to law school.

it's propaganda to get people to go into massive debt because law school is supposed to inspire dreams of becoming some rich famous lawyer when a lot of them don't even end up making that much money iirc

From just headlines on Google, looks like millions of students graduate every year and around 1% of them are law students, so seems like it's a decent enough generic gauge of personal success.

USA is super litigious which being a lawer has ton of job security. Also law school is very competitive because the amount of school it takes requires much less time than other high paying degrees.

Probably because English majors are one of the most common degrees in Law School. So it's something the author relates to success.
